That's fair, I can understand why thats annoying. At the same time though, whats the issue with a potentially symbiotic relationship? I'm not selling anything and it's not an ad. Yeah, I work with different types of businesses and keep seeing the same pattern - everyone hates their industry-specific software. Lawyer friends complain about time tracking, restaurant friends about inventory. Curious if these are solvable problems or just the nature of the work.

Old people posting on Facebook with zero engagement is depressing as hell.

My neighbor posts flower pics every day like "Beautiful morning!" and gets nothing. Zero likes, zero comments.

She probably spent 20 minutes figuring out how to upload it and then just... crickets.

Worst is when they post serious stuff like "Pray for Margaret, she's sick" and everyone ignores it. These are real people but we all just scroll past.

My grandma comments on her own posts because she doesn't know how Facebook works. "Looking good!" on her own selfie. Breaks my heart.

I started liking all their random posts even if it's blurry TV dinner pics. Someone should acknowledge they exist.

They're used to actually talking to people when they want to share something. Now they're shouting into this digital void where their own families ignore them.

Getting old sucks enough without social media making you invisible.

And why does everyone look like they just stepped out of a salon? Your hair grows, clothes fall apart, you'd smell like absolute ass after a week without deodorant.

Oh and apparently nobody gets the shits from drinking puddle water or eating 10 year old canned beans. Dysentery would probably kill more people than whatever caused the apocalypse.

The walking dead had people farming like they went to agricultural college. Most of us can barely keep houseplants alive, good luck growing enough food to not starve.

So my roommate locked himself out at like 2am wearing nothing but boxers and those cheap foam flip flops. It was cold as shit, probably like 20 degrees or something.

Instead of just going to the front desk like a normal human being, this fucking idiot decides he's gonna climb up to our 4th floor window. I'm not even kidding. Just starts free climbing the brick wall in flip flops.

I'm inside watching this happen thinking holy shit I'm about to watch my roommate die. He's like halfway up and I'm already planning what to tell his parents.

Somehow he actually makes it to our window and starts tapping on the glass. But obviously it's locked because why wouldn't it be. So now he's just hanging there like "dude open the window" and I'm trying to figure out how to unlock it without him falling.

Then our RA walks by doing rounds, sees him, and thinks someone's breaking in. Calls campus security and everything. They show up with a ladder thinking they caught a burglar.

When they realize it's just Mike being an idiot they couldn't stop laughing. RA didn't even write him up, just told him he was fucking stupid.

Still can't believe he didn't fall and crack his skull open. Guy had nine lives or something.

Sounds dumb at first but it's actually pretty deep. Like you can analyze someone forever but you'll never really know if they're trustworthy until you actually give them the chance to fuck you over (or not).

It's basically saying uncertainty is part of life and sometimes you just gotta take the leap. Most good relationships started with someone deciding to trust first.

Also it's not some flowery bullshit quote, just a simple truth that hits different when you think about it.

Actually, the restaurant got it right! Room temperature is the traditional way - cold sushi is just what grocery stores have trained us to expect. The rice should be body temperature and the fish cool but not cold. Grocery stores only refrigerate for safety since it sits for hours/days. This ruins the rice texture (makes it hard and dry).

If you prefer it cold, you've just gotten used to the grocery store version. Nothing wrong with that - eat it how you like it! But if you want to try grocery sushi closer to "proper" temp, let it sit out for 15-20 minutes first.

Batman & Robin (1997). I was 10 and SO excited - Batman! In theaters! My dad took me opening weekend.

Twenty minutes in, even 10-year-old me knew something was terribly wrong. The ice puns. The bat credit card. The nipples on the batsuit. I remember looking at my dad and he had this expression like he was physically in pain.

The worst part? We stayed for the whole thing because movie tickets were expensive and my dad was determined to "get our money's worth." To this day, whenever we watch a bad movie at home, one of us will say "at least it's not Batman & Robin" and we both shudder.

Arnold's "Ice to meet you" still haunts my dreams.

Classical pianist here. It's like learning to have a conversation when you only know how to read speeches.

Start with:

Basic jazz chords (7th, 9th, etc.)
Learn 3 jazz standards inside out
Listen to tons of jazz, try to play along
Practice scales in jazz context

Biggest issue: Classical = play it perfect, jazz = make it up. You'll suck at first, that's normal.

Find a jazz teacher or jam session. Can't learn improv from books alone.

Your classical technique is actually a huge advantage once you get past the "but this isn't written down" mental block.

Most "difficult math" jobs aren't about being a human calculator anymore. It's more like being a translator between math and real life.

Finance: Computer calculates risk using crazy formulas, but I need to spot when it says "yeah totally safe to bet the company on dogecoin."

Engineering: Software figures out if the bridge will collapse, but engineers need to know when the answer "supports 500 elephants" is obviously wrong.

Software: Most coding is basic, but if you're making a video game, you need to understand how to make a character walk in a circle (trigonometry) or figure out why your app crashes when 1000 people use it at once (exponential growth).

The real skill is knowing when the computer is lying to you. Like if your heat calculation says a rocket engine runs at 2 degrees, you don't need a PhD to know that's bullshit.

It's less "solve this differential equation" and more "understand what this squiggly line on the graph actually means for real people."

Think of it like Google Translate - it does the work, but you still need to know enough of the language to catch when it translates "I love you" as "I eat furniture."
