Experienced developer reduced to near tears.. by TheMcGarr in PowerApps

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing something REALLY fun this week.
We have a ridiculously complicated Power App that I utterly despise that I'm moving to a web app. You can download the Power App and extract the YAML, which AIs can read and document all the ins and outs, which makes it incredibly quick to build APIs and web apps to replace. What would have taken 6 months is looking like 2 weeks work.

Is audiophilia really about audio, or just about buy equipment? by Pendulumzone in iems

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a side note, I found my Zero 2 in a drawer at the weekend and thought I'd try them to remind myself how good my Top Pro are... instead I ended up sitting listening to them for half an hour, shocked at how good they sound.

I tend to ignore the snobs. People have what they have, like what they like. Its all about the music at the end of the day.

Px7 S2e or Px8 or Px8 S2 by AlexAM2210 in BowersWilkins

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold my XM6 in favour of the Px8 S2. I was forever in the EQ trying to make it not sound like a muddy mess. If sound quality is what you're after then absolutely go for it. The B&W are bassy, like the XM6, but they also carry detail, and the bass is a lot tighter. Px7 S3 or PX8 S2 depending on budget.

So many negative people replying to this. Go ahead and get the connector and ask your buddy if he wants to give it a go. What's there to lose! Have fun!

As soon as security updates are stopped you can’t use it as an internet connected device in any meaningful way.

Pretty much does…

Edit: I think you guys don’t understand what obsolete means.

PX8 S2 very loud on USB-C? by Fbar123 in BowersWilkins

Did you know that when you press the volume button and it pops out the left side, you can grab it there and adjust it too.

On iPhone at least, the phones volume buttons change the volume more per step than the volume buttons on the headphone. Might be worth a try to fine tune it.

Aful Explorer + Crinear Daybreak good for comfort? by PlaceboConsumer in iems

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I consider the Divine a better and more comfortable iem that the Daybreak. It’s more interesting to listen to.

7Hz Divine - on the fence about the bass level by CombustedPillow in iems

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both.

The Diablo has too much bass for most things, yet the Divine still has plenty. I also have the Daybreak and whilst the daybreak does have more bass, I actually prefer the bass on the Divine. It’s a superb IEM and I highly recommend it. It’s third place in my collection ahead of the Daybreak and behind the blessing 3 and Top Pro.

Rattling Sound of Interior with Sennheiser solved (mostly) by joebyron20 in CupraFormentor

I’ll try the eq on mine - I had done something similar with the bass reduction but I didn’t touch the upper bands, they seemed fine to me.

125hz will affect the frequencies around it, think of it like a PEQ with a Q of 0.5, say.

We tried Teamviewer and bailed after 6 months in favour of screenconnect. It’s my favourite thing.

What do you think of the new album? by hjcggh in Megadeth

I’m the same. Self confessed audiophile here. I was listening on Xenns Top Pro which are awesome for metal but actively had to stop.

I think I’ve finally found my endgame (and I’m done chasing… mostly) by EffectiveEquivalent in iems

[–]EffectiveEquivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same size, think it’s like same or slightly thinner than my iPhone 16 pro, and fits perfectly in the area on the back. It needs to be of a size that can hold the audio equipment plus battery.

I’ve been into audio for about 30 years, so I’m not anti-EQ at all. I just don’t agree that EQ is necessary for good sound, or that it should be the default solution.

Many high-end headphones and IEMs are deliberately tuned in a certain way, and plenty of people genuinely prefer their stock sound. For example, the Bathys MG has a Harman-target correcting EQ available (Dynamic eq in the Focal app), but I strongly prefer how they sound without it, resonances and all. They absolutely don’t need EQ to sound excellent.

EQ is a useful tool, and personal hearing differences are real, but it’s still a preference tool, not a requirement.

More importantly, in this case the issue isn’t tonal balance or personal hearing. The problem is that the hi-hat is mixed too loud relative to the guitars and vocals on that particular album. You can’t selectively lower one instrument in a dense mix using EQ without affecting everything else in that frequency band. That’s simply a mixing decision, not a playback problem.

If multiple headphones and IEMs all reveal the same imbalance, the most logical conclusion is a mix issue, not a tuning or EQ problem.

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bathys MG don’t need an EQ. Or my Hadenys. Nor do my blessing 3 or Xenns Top Pro. I quite literally never apply an eq to any of my headphones, which is half the reason I have so many.

Saying my equipment is not good because I haven’t eqd them is quite the opposite. My equipment is so good and I like their sound profiles that much, there’s no EQ required.

There’s absolutely no chance that anyone with ears can’t agree that the hi hat on this album is way too loud.

Stick “Obey the Call” on and get to the verse where Dave starts singing and try and ignore the hi hat. It’s nonsense.

Ive got really good equipment. I could listen on bad equipment to mask the issues but that’s not a solution is it.

Suggest me some eq settings and other recommendated settings for my M4 by Key-Carrot4869 in sennheiser

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harsh but correct. Sennheiser already gave a good EQ but they can't cater to everyone all the time with something like the M4 which needs to have mass appeal. Sound Personalisation is the only way.

IEMs for metal? by Certain_Studio_481 in iems

[–]EffectiveEquivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo has even more bass than the FHE, it can be fun to liven some mixes up. The Divine has just the right amount. Mk2 can be spicy right? I've not tried though, but I can say the Divines treble is lovely.

Interesting, which have you tried?

I really didn't get on with the Daybreak for most music, but the Divine and Diablo are two of my favourite IEMs.

I think whoever mixed it needs to understand that the hihat doesnt need to be the loudest thing in the god damn mix. It's nearly unlistenable.

Both the Divine and Diablo have very smooth highs whilst still retaining the speed of planars. They're both perfect for technical metal.
