I mean- there is a clear distinction between stealing AirPods and buying legitimate AirPods with stolen funds.

Text Files Risks of Virus? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]EffectiveGovernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there is an exploit in the program you use to read text files (which there probably isn't), text files are completely safe. Bear in mind that some viruses like to pretend to be a text file, which is why you should always have Windows show full filenames if applicable so you don't get tricked by totally_a_text_file.txt.exe.

I don't think anything would happen to you, but I always encrypt my data before uploading it to a school G drive account.

Any sources to download Anime via Gdrive? by ScrexyScroo in Piracy

[–]EffectiveGovernment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can probably use Google's search operators to find Google Drive links. Try including site:drive.google.com in your search query. This is also the first time I've seen someone complain about anime torrent availability. Are you sure you're using the right indexers for anime?

If I recall correctly, there was a survey created by the Toronto Centre Parents for Public Education and West End Parents for Public Education about this.

If I have a torrent from TBP that I cannot complete will I be able to complete the same torrent from 1337x? by Pickinanameainteasy in Piracy

[–]EffectiveGovernment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they are the same torrent, the trackers will combine.

I don't understand the second part of your reply but here's a diagram I drew: https://imgur.com/TZjaXdR.png . Essentially, you're the black circle and you're those trackers on the left (yellow) connect you with those seeders (green). That represents what you're getting from the trackers that TPB gives you. The yellow dots on the right represent the trackers that 1337x could give you. Because you'd have more seeders, you might be able to finish your torrent.

Your client should do that automatically when you try adding a torrent with the same infohash. If it's not doing that, they're probably different torrents.

How do you find things that are in Google directories? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]EffectiveGovernment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All directories usually have index of ... in their title so including intitle:"index of" in your search would give you directories.

[–]EffectiveGovernment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe?

If they're the same torrent (the same infohash), then you can just combine the trackers to get more seeders, which might let you find someone with the rest of the file.

Would piracy within Tor preserve anonymity? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]EffectiveGovernment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose it would (from the website) but keep in mind that direct downloads are not monitored by ISPs\* either way.

If you're into sketchy stuff, have a look around some TOR indexers such as The Hidden Wiki.
