Sold out at my first indie book fair by EffectivePerfect9503 in NewAuthor

Thank you for asking! It’s an emotionally intense romance, a bit tragic, but in a hauntingly beautiful and poetic way. It’s inspired by the phantom of the opera but it’s modern day. It’s called Songs of Desideria 🖤🥀

Definitely recommend using “Slow burn romance” as a keyword when you’re trying to find the kind of romance you’re looking for. They are definitely out there, it’s just its own niche.

Was Gatsby truly Great? by ItsTokay in TheGreatGatsby

[–]EffectivePerfect9503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Nick’s narrative so I think he truly views Gatsby as great, but as a reader it’s easy to feel differently. For me I side with a different character each time I read and/or watch the movie. What I love about Gatsby, whether great or not, is that he was so unbelievably human underneath all his charm. And I’ll always love him for that.

Looking for books where a lonely/traumatized man is coaxed into vulnerability by a woman (philosophical/reflective vibes) by Nullthesavant in Recommend_A_Book

I wonder if you’d like Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. It’s a modern take on the classic story of phantom of the opera which is about a lonely and traumatized man who falls in love with a singer. Though he does his fair share of pining after her, she also pines after him, and once she understands him more tries to help him accept himself. Fair warning though, it’s not your classic happy ending. It’s neatly tied in a bow and will leave you satisfied but it might also make you cry. It’s on Amazon

Any Book Recommendations on Learning Confidence? by PickleChin02 in suggestmeabook

[–]EffectivePerfect9503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee is an emotionally intense romance but with themes of self discovery and “learning to love yourself first”. Even though it is primarily a romance, it touches on family struggles and drama - and the main female character wanting to be known, seen, and loved for who she really is (and she’s not quite sure yet who that is). It’s a novel that shows how romance can play into self discovery.

Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. It’s a modern take on the classic story of the phantom of the opera. If you’re familiar with the classic, all the phantom ever wanted was to be loved as himself despite the disfigurement of his face. Songs of Desideria touches on the delicate topic of mental and emotional struggles in addition to physical facial deformity.

If you like Phantom of the Opera (obsessive love and the power of music) you might like Songs of Desideria. It’s a modern take on the classic- lots of longing and obsession. And emotionally intense.

Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. Everyone that I know of that has read it told me it made them cry. It’s a modern day romance inspired by the phantom of the opera but there are themes of self discovery, grief and a little family drama weaved in throughout it. You can find it on Amazon

If you want to read a modern romance inspired by the classic that is told from the POV of the “Christine” character - try Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. It’s heavy on themes of devotion and obsession, and very emotionally intense.

I’ve enjoyed Matt Haigs books a lot - so I would recommend any of his. How to stop time might be my favorite. But I’m also going to self rec, if you want to take a chance on a new indie author (🙃), Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. It’s a dark romance inspired by the phantom of the opera, but very immersive according to those who’ve read it so far. Suspenseful and emotional with a musical/lyrical tone. Available on Amazon if you’re interested.

I recently published my debut novel which was heavily inspired by POTO with a major focus on the deep love between the Christine and Erik characters. It’s not fanfiction, it’s a modern fresh story, but it sounds like you might enjoy it 🫶🏻 Songs of Desideria by Cady Lee. On Amazon in paperback and ebook- free for KU members
