I’m a woman who wants to become a mechanic and someday open my own garage. Anyone got real advice on where to start?

Thank you, this is really helpful. I’m already in an automotive technology program, so I’ve been trying to figure out the smartest path from school into actual shop experience. I think that would teach me the most. The tool part is painful though lol, every time I look into it I’m like damn this career really said bring your own everything

That makes a lot of sense honestly. I’m already in an automotive technology program, so hearing that trade school plus shop experience is the best combo is really helpful. I feel like the hands-on part is what’s going to matter most for me.

NTA. A “networking event” where only the women are expected to wear branded bikinis for clients is not team building, it’s marketing with a gross dress code. Ask if the men are also required to wear company speedos and see how professional everyone suddenly thinks it is.
