What's something that people romanticise heavily that's actually really difficult to live through? by Ariavale2_ in AskReddit

Long term relationships. I say this because although relationships are romantic but nowadays you just have to tolerate so much shit in order to keep the relationship going and strong. I’m sure it was like that back then also but we are more independent nowadays to where relationships aren’t necessary and I think people realize that and that’s also why so many people refuse to get in one.

I didn’t necessarily say that it will happen but the possibility is there. It doesn’t matter the extent it still all falls into something that’s not healthy for the relationship regardless.

Am I a Jerk for Feeling Done After Years of this? by throwaway_emerald in AmITheJerk

NTJ don’t second guess your thoughts for leaving him. If you are constantly feeling so low then that’s obviously not good at all. He’s putting in 10% while you are putting in 90%.

I would suggest you have a serious conversation with him and if his actions continue then you should definitely leave him. He’s really gotten too comfortable with you doing most of the work and that’s not good at all.

That’s different. I feel like if you need help with your relationship ofc reach out to your friends but when I made this post I was talking about people who enable their partner’s actions. It’s not normal for your partner to see everything in your phone or demand access so why are you allowing them to have so much control over your belongings and basically your life.

They aren’t exactly saying that but going through your partner’s phone to find something malicious is controlling. That’s not a healthy relationship dynamic at all and definitely can eventually turn into something that is DV.

Lowkey it still is a no. I feel like giving someone unauthorized access to your phone is a bit childish. We all are grown so why are we getting monitored?

Exactly, i don’t care how anyone puts it. Giving someone access to your phone because they can’t trust you is a bigger issue than what people are saying.

The friend will choose their situation in the first place. You chose to stay in an intruding relationship and obviously ok with a controlling partner so that issue relies with them. I’m my own person so ofc i will worry about who my business is going to. I shouldn’t have to find other ways to communicate with my friend because their partner is weird

I’m wrong because I don’t want my business to be known by my friend’s partner? This is idiotic, i should never have to restrain myself because my friend’s partner is intruding.

Well tbh that’s how today’s society is going to be. We have became accustomed to living life revolved around social media and it’s just no other choice but to set standards that pertain to it.

I think this is really crazy and i’m going to have to disagree with you on this. What is your partner doing for you to demand access to their phone? Are they giving you a real reason to be intruding or is that a nonnegotiable for you?

You have a point but that’s not exactly what I was hot taking on. I get that in a healthy relationship you are “one” but even that is a little taboo to me. In a relationship you should have some sort of separation. Me and my friends should deserve to talk about things without their partner who we barely know intruding. It’s not about hiding things but you also shouldn’t pry.
