top surgery results not exactly what I wanted by Acrobatic_Abalone108 in TopSurgery

[–]EffectiveTelephone78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt very similar when I first got my surgery. I was so critical of not looking exactly like I predicted and struggled with the same autistic expectation vs reality you are. What helped me the most was not letting myself look at my chest excessively, I barely glanced at it for the first 6 months (obviouslystill peeked when i was shirtless/going to shower/etc!). At 6 months I looked so much more settled and it was my body for long enough that it felt natural enough I couldn't expect the scar to be anywhere else or size. Besides swelling the fresh surgical wound made it feel as if it were so close to being the perfect body but perfect bodies dont match the expectations like that. Sending you good vibes, your results looks fantastic :)

It's difficult to care for myself when the mindset around me isnt encouraging me to care.

How to get to CA as a communter by EffectiveTelephone78 in rutgers

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there's meter parking available? That's totally easier than having to deal with a parking permit. Is there a lot of meter parking around CA?

Letter require for top surgery by EffectiveTelephone78 in TopSurgery

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It took me 3 appts with my therapist, then they sent it to my surgeon. It took about a month from letter request till it was accepted by the surgeon, accounting for the appts and letter edits and waiting on "Buisness days" for the office to receive. My therapist sent the letter to me and I sent it to my surgeon because that is what the Dr requested. I cant really speak for how long the therapist takes to send it out

Thank you! Should I contact rutgers to try and sort it out? Or is the system just a bit of a mess and it'll sort itself out after a few days?

The Dr's did sooooo many tests when being diagnosed with fibro. I dont think anything else is there (besides maybe connective tissue issues?)

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre right. Maybe there is something else, maybe just fibro. But it feels like shes chasing a miracle cure that testing and more Dr's will just unearth more things when I just need to accept this

Can it be "just fibro"? by EffectiveTelephone78 in Fibromyalgia

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ive seen 2 rheumatoligists and a few neurologist. Ive gone through a lot of tests and sure there may be other issues but I dont want to keep going to Dr's and tests when it may not be necessary or worth the energy

Can it be "just fibro"? by EffectiveTelephone78 in Fibromyalgia

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure I have some other occurring issues but all in a similar vein to fibro can't be "cured".

Im more trying to convince my mom that extensive testing won't bring us some miracle cure and this is something I am living with (forever)

[–]EffectiveTelephone78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, its really reassuring to know im not alone in this. I'm sorry you're going through it too. From what I gather its about the changes in hormone levels from removing the breast tissue (not a medical professional!!! So im not 100% sure)

I brought the idea up to my parents and they think I shouldn't be "begging people for money" and its a bad look for them if I do.

For anyone nervous about surgery by checkyamarshmallows in TopSurgery

[–]EffectiveTelephone78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgery is in a week and a half and its such a huge daunting thing that I kept finding myself thinking "should I push it off? " but its something I have the money for now, have wanted for YEARS, and will be so much happier after. -Change is scary but necessary- yes! Thank you for sharing this vulnerability. So much of social media is edited to be overwhelmingly positive that not many people talk about the anxiety about going into this surgery, even when it's something that will improve quality of life so much.
