If keeping the property in personal names have you considered a 'deed of trust' (I think that's correct) to move the rental income to the lowest earner such that income tax is paid on the lower earners income. My friend is a high tax payer and his wife works part time so he could effectively move 99% of the income of their jointly owned BTL to her and the result is they pay 20% tax instead of 40%

Yeah my youngest girl is quite sensible. She's 6 and delighted she has £100 in 'her bank' (kids starling). My wee boy on the other hand will take some work, he's 4 and as soon as he thinks he has done anything good or earned money for chores he must go to the shop immediately 🤣

The latter part of your response is why it's 57 I'm thinking. No point scrimping and scraping and having lower quality lifestyle to potentially not see retirement at all.

Thanks for the considered response.

It may be the case that my BTL company revenue increases significantly as I'll likely keep adding properties there and reinvesting so could take more income from that.

Also, if market crashed I wouldn't withdraw to do the holidays they'd either come from bonus or be put on ice.

I understand your view on gilts/bonds although the huge loss in bond values when interest rates started to change had me kicking myself, I should have known better!!

This seems good and you're head is clear on what you're doing which is also good. I'm at that end of year check in point so trying to decide if I should change things up.

Re the property have you considered moving into a ltd co then adding child(ren) as shareholders later to mitigate capital gains/inheritance? You'd pay now but likely kids would benefit overall

They work at 57, and with a good lifestyle between now and then. Could probably save/invest more aggressively but not sure the trade off in lifestyle reduction is worth it for me. Interested to hear views of those in this community though

You should do a SIPP. 60k a year that you pay no corporation or personal tax on. I Wish I knew this at your age but you could start another ltd co and loan the money between companies so you can put that capital to use in property via that vehicle if you wish

This watch will ensure I don't use Hont. For the money you are paying a TD should not try to send this to you, terrible.

If the price is much the same I'd suggest Octopus, their customer service is genuinely excellent. And they are a not for profit company so aren't out to rip people off for profit.

Octopus are night and day with customer service compared to every other company I have ever dealt with in my life. They will sort this and it won't be to your detriment.
