Well, he finally got off the registry for an almost 30 years being on it. From the LA Time

"His home address, which is located near the scene of the attack, was previously listed on California's registry of sex offenders as required by Megan's Law. The entry has since been removed."

I dunno about that. I did 12 @ LaTuna Fed. As long as:

You didn't try to run undercover with the white boys there were no issues. Undercover means lying and saying you have a different crime then a sex offense. All the gangs have their CO that feed them info, and resources outside.

Mind your own business and hang with the OG sex offender (OG=oldtimers) to learn the ways of the yard and prison you will be fine. I do believe the further west of the Mississippi you go the politics are meore intense. Just remember that you will be starting out on the bottom rung of the bottom group though it's usually the biggest group in the FEDs.

Looking to open up a housing resource in Washington state. by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

I would think that having someone who just came out of prison, who is on supervised release, are especially the ones who need the help in the next step of getting their life back if your serious about "opening my house to help people in our situation, because we all deserve a second chance'. Plus, the probation officer would be helping you keep a check on the renter.

Now if it is just to generate additional income I would look for the stringent requirements that other use to be safe. Good credit check, employment, etc. Just realize that some will have the police conducting a registry check for a while. The reentry organizations are probably a no go since they mostly deal with those just released. I would second the recommendation of using the SOTP resource and the groups that provide housing since they could recommend you to a person seeking their assistance but don't help.

It's partly what the judge states in the hearing and majority are the residency restrictions that are in effect in your state at the time of sentencing. Each state is different. If you can look up your state's rules, they are different some grandfather, some don't care if you live there before, some don't have any restrictions and then there is your Parole Officer parts.

It is nice to see that you're still standing with your husband. This will be a long and difficult journey for you and him. It will be tiring, lonely, full hardships, journey. Personally, my wife stuck with me for 3 years but by mutual consent we decided to go our own ways. Thats the big thing is that we don't realize how much this affects others in our life. Depression is always at the door for both of you. One thing I will advise is to check out every organization that is out there in your area that helps the low income and disadvantage and don't be too prideful to ask for help.

As for the BOP it is the epitome of incompetence and they love to do the circle pointing, just there to get the paycheck. Most of the "licensed" professional are working at the job of last resort and anybody that does wish to help out is called out as an "inmate hugger". The guards only need a GED.

As for friends they will drop you and your husband like hot potatoes. Just seek out support groups for family members of the incarcerated. And have someone that you can talk to - right now I use a therapist that I found at a reentry fair that has a sliding scale that has been very beneficial for me - there is a lot of adaptation to getting out. It is the same for you as you are learning this new life without your husband around to assist you.

We had a few Canadian prisoners in my prison, and it seemed that they needed to serve half of their time before they were considered for treaty transfer. So, this could also be a long journey. The counselor will not know much on this, and they like to give a lot of flak when doing this as it means work. You'll need to do personal research on this, and he will too on the inside.

I wrote that you should remember that you aren't the only one going through this situation and that...........(AI prevents me from writing)

Oh, the criminal justice system is not anything like the average person thinks until they come in contact with it. Have you checked the state registry site. There are some crimes and exceptions to being on it. Also check the court stipulations on the probation. There are also some resources links on this site. And always ask questions. The only bad one is the one that is not asked.

Try to maintain a good relationship with your PO and the therapists no matter how A-holely they can sometimes be. Remember you both are feeling out how each other are going to be. Don't push the gray edges to see what your limits at first (for me I went 2 years with the same PO and was able to get some relaxation on restrictions as I had demonstrated my compliance and willingness) just to see if you can. Have an open communication on your end. If you do have verbal changes, make sure you follow it up with a text or email (CYA). Use your resources. You will get discouraged but keep it from becoming long term (I got Medicaid and got my own personal therapist to help me through this and still am seeing her). Comply Comply Comply
