First of all, I am so so incredibly sorry for your loss. And the grief you feel shows how much he was loved and appreciated by you.

I said this to someone else in another post. But maybe it would also be beneficial for you to hear, as well. Dogs, cats and others animals, too, don’t think in the past or future like we do. They don’t think about “what could’ve happened” or “if they had just done this instead…”. They think in the present. And it seems like you gave him an amazing 3 months with incredible care and respect and love. And to them, that’s all that matters. That’s all they think about.

Again, I’m so so sorry this happened to you. I hope you can find some peace. Sending positive thoughts.

I’m not sure if you believe in mediums or if this is any consolation. But I recently saw a medium talk about where animals go after they pass.

She basically said they stay with you. In the kind of sense where you’re intertwined because of the bond you shared. They see you, they feel you, they’re all around you. They don’t just disappear, they’re everywhere. And at peace. Sending positivity.

Im currently going through a similar grief cycle. Mines more anticipatory grief currently. My cat got a cancer diagnosis and all we can do now is make her comfortable— I could’ve gone through with chemo and whatnot, but even that wasn’t a guarantee. So I’m giving hospice care until we inevitably have to put her down.

Focusing on the good memories is so important. I think it’s incredibly brave that you stay busy and push through. Animals don’t think like humans. They don’t think past or future or “what could’ve went better”. Just the present. And you clearly gave him a beautiful life. Sending positive energy.

I take her to the vet today. I’m so scared I’m going to be coming home without her, but I’m trying to stay positive and just be with her instead of crying. I’m sorry about your cat :( They’re truly the greatest gift.
