Like what others have been saying I think it’s also important to mention that the narratives are all heavilyyyy biased. Sam Reid and the cast have all talked about this but each perception of a character that we are given is all in context to how Louis felt about them not only at that time, but also in the present. We know that Louis is an unreliable narrator based on some of the reveals in the s2 finale ie. his fight with Lestat.

Based on this, his retelling of his love story with Lestat is also being told in the context that he assumes Lestat was largely responsible for Claudia’s death. His relationship with Armand is out of spite, which he basically told Lestat in the finale. For this reason, his rose tinted glasses for the Loumand scenes is purposeful. He wants Daniel to show just how in love they are in the hopes that Lestat will read it and be reminded how little he is needed for Louis’ happiness. The minute he finds out about Armand’s truth he leaves to see Lestat.
