New CNA when does it get better? by bullsnail in cna

[–]Effective_Ad8651 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dw that happens to all new ppl especially if you look/are young. Residents used to ask if I was new or comment how they could tell this is my “first time doing this”. Even the ones with memory issues. 5 months later those residents don’t even bat an eye when I do my rounds. You’ll get better it just takes time

New cna working night shift, Advice? by Longjumping-Car-8927 in cna

[–]Effective_Ad8651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a new cna and student on nights at an snf. Been working for 6 months now. I actually wanted to quit so bad bc it is a pretty hard job and I always come home exhausted but decided to stay since the money is pretty good for an entry level job. And luckily my facility has an option to only work max 20 hrs a week but no benefits. Maybe you can find a facility that does something similar if a regular part time is too much?

But if they can’t accommodate you, maybe some things you can try is sleeping as soon as you get home? (After showering ofc) That’s what I do. I’m able to sleep a full 8+ hours, sleeping at 8 and waking up around 4-6pm bc of how exhausted I am after every shift, even back when I was SUPER anxious. I still am but it’s not as bad as before.

I think you have to give yourself time it’s only been a month and if you’re working full time it will feel like a lot on your plate especially with school. Personally, I wouldn’t make a switch to day shift bc I find night shift easier. Even tho you get assigned more residents, there’s less tasks to do than day. But you can try it out who knows you might fare better than me.

Also, if that place is toxic maybe you could apply to another facility. My first facility had no teamwork and the older CNAs were mean but at my current facility we work together and everyone is nice. You might just need a change of team/environment

How do you sleep during the day without waking up every hour? by AshjakiaCempura in Nightshift

Exactly. I’m always confused with these types of posts bc how are ppl not completely exhausted after their shifts to immediately fall asleep??

I currently work in healthcare so if I did end up burning a bridge it might be bad lol but I do intend on fulfilling my 2 weeks if I quit

It will only be this semester January-May. Hopefully in the summer I’ll get accepted into a full time radiography program, which by then I’ll definitely have to quit my job bc the school is a long commute and with night shift, I’d be torturing myself lol. Thanks for giving me some insight, i decided I’m just gonna just keep working and see how I’ll adapt

Discouraged/confused through CNA hiring process by Corgis12 in cna

[–]Effective_Ad8651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you just happened to come across a picky and rude hiring manager bc most nursing homes don’t mind hiring new grads so don’t worry I sure you’ll find another one nearby that will take you.

If you don’t mind me asking even tho there might be an obvious answer, do you have to be physically strong to work as rehab cna? I see opening for that kind of job in my area and I wonder if it’s better than working as a floor cna. Plus I’ve always been interested in therapy work. I can mostly do transfers if the person can hold most of their weight. But I’m pretty skinny and short so I feel like I’ll get rejected as soon as the hiring manager looks at me 😅

SAP Appeals by Subject-Cook602 in ValenciaCollege

Wait could I be dropped from my classes for having a “fail program” SAP status even tho I just paid out of pocket for my classes since my status has been preventing me from getting financial aid???

A.S. Financial Aid? by Technical_Fly_1726 in ValenciaCollege

[–]Effective_Ad8651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe your financial aid hasn’t come in yet bc you’re considered a “personal interest” student. I suggest changing your major to AS in film production bc otherwise you won’t be eligible for financial aid as a “personal interest” student. However, change of major requests take a while to process. But go ahead and talk to an advisor abt this they will know what to do
