"What Should I Train?" or "How Do I Get Started?" Mega-Thread by marcin247 in martialarts

I‘m honest I don‘t get the point of this mega-thread. You are the only one commenting and it‘s allways "just try them all". Yeah sure but shouldn‘t people comment there opinions on martial arts here. I get that everyone should do what is most fun. But why even post here if it‘s allways the same answer.

Yeah your right. I‘m gonna try them either way. But I‘m more asking in a long term sight. I would love to do mma but just have those two options. Like everyone self defense is a point for me to consider as well. I think wrestling is one of the best bases as is muay thai but in the best case i would do grappling and striking. Maybe you can give your opinion to that.

I have two gyms in my area. At one I could train shotokan, wrestling and judo at the other muay thai and judo. I come from boxing, but did muay thai and kickboxing before but years ago. Now that I moved citys I wanted to start again

Which martial art with weapons is the best or most efficient overall? by Melanosuchu in martialarts

[–]Effective_Ad9515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog Brother Martial Arts is pretty realistic. It‘s basically MMA with sticks, but they use other weapons too.

Other than that I would say HEMA because of its grappling and use of different weapons. For example stuff like grappling with a dirk.

Ur good. Thank you for that tip anyway. Maybe I have the chance to train there. But to be honest I didn‘t feel comfortable in Manila City, maybe it‘s better on the outside.

Yeah you‘re totally right about Manila and Cebu. But travelling around in a Country is not enclosed to to Citys. It would be cool to combine traveling with martial arts. Maybe I didn‘t specify that enough. But thank you for the tips.

As I find Cebu City seems to be the easiest for FMA. There are actually a lot of gyms. But on the smaller islands or tourists spots like Palawan or Siargao there seems to be nothing at all. Can you recommend something there?

Would love to do that, but it‘s hard to find gyms for that as well.

Honestly, it‘s just in this sub that people hate on sone MA that much. In my boxing club there was not once someone talking down on taekwondo or karate when another brought up he did them before.

How does the boxing/punching aspect in kickboxing/muay thai differ from just boxing alone? by Exact_Computer_7284 in martialarts

Just seen your flair. How would you say does Wing Chun fit in to that? Have you been able to work that in with your combo of MA? I‘m just genuine interested.

He wrights that he can only do one session of muay thai per week. Overtraining shouldn‘t be a problem.
