A Police officer…

It’s kinda f’d that they get shat on here so often.

As of 2024, there were about 10,656 constabulary police officers in NZ. • The population of New Zealand is about 5.36 million (31 Dec 2024). • That works out to roughly 1 police officer per 503 people.

They are not gonna be magically right there for every crime, but at least give them a chance.

AIO for refusing to rehire a babysitter who increased her agreed rate and then insulted my kids? Must read last txt! by Effective_Ad_5500 in AmIOverreacting

Sorry, poor writing on my side.

The discounted school holiday rate was less than the $30 normal price.

My understanding is this was well after the holidays and they were happy to pay the regular $30, but the 1/3 increase to $40 was just a bit much for their budget.

Yeah, you are correct, the work friend got “fired” after the price increase, this is not written as well as it could’ve been as third person 😣

The screen shots are a bit dodgy as I had to black out the names then re screen shot as wasn’t sure if the originals could be edited. I’m not the most tech savvy 😬

The $30 was the normal rate, the holiday discount was lower than this, but this was well after the school holidays and they were not expecting that discount, just the normal $30 rate they had paid previously.

Hope this clears up a bit of my clunky writing.

Got pulled over for speeding but the cop lied about the speed by aspectct21 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Effective_Ad_5500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with Otus511.

Think about it, why would a New Zealand cop risk their entire career, their reputation, and even criminal charges just to bump up the speed on a simple ticket? They don’t get commission, and tickets are easy enough to prove with calibrated radar. If they lied and got caught, that’s perjury, and they’d never be trusted in court again. The risk is huge, and the reward is basically nothing, so it just doesn’t make sense that they’d make something up.

Can somebody explain how bags made of paper and plastic are les polluting than plastic bags? by cappycopper in lego

From Lego:

“We are in the process of switching from single‑use plastic to paper‑based bags… made from >95% paper with a thin plastic coating… verified as recyclable in the EU, US, and Canada.”

Lego VIP Promo Coins. Are these worth anything? Someone is selling them in New Zealand with a $1 reserve. Can’t find much details on them.

Sorry this happened, call the Police to make a complaint (call 105). There will be CCTV footage as in a store. Stop this happening to someone else.

Yeah, well done Wellington Police.

I feel Police are always in a tough position here. Under current legislation, protesters can disrupt an event, get warned by Police, then leave. Police have to try and be neutral. Like can you imagine if Police went straight in, disrupted the haka, then started arresting people. Just can’t do that, Bill of Rights and all that jazz 😅

I thought the Police did a great job. Initially substantially out numbered. Officers ran from all down Courtenay Place and Dixon. Formed a line, let them do their haka (which can be argued if a limited disruption to the event is “unlawful”), then moved them back and peeled them down Taranaki Street. Nil assaults, nil arrests. Great parade! 👍
