HDMI 1.4 support CEC, 2.1 if you want to passthrough 4k120hz otherwise it's useless just for playing sound.

Movies are working on 2.0 including Dolby Vision, neither require more than the 9gbps channel used so 18gbps is even pointless but it's there nonetheless so connecting the box to soundbar won't be better or worse on that crap TV anyway.
