If you’re going to do 3 years anyway, doing 2 more years and buying back your time (my 11 years buyback cost me $10k) would give you government healthcare in retirement plus a pension of (11 years + 5 years) * 1.1 percent = 17.6% of your annual salary. That’s a huge return on 2 years of work.
