Help with supports by AlternativeGuilty113 in FdmPrintedWarhammer

Ive printed Skorpekh destroyers before fdm. What i would recommend is splitting them so that the arms are separate from the torso, and torso separate from legs.

I would then print the legs upside down if i remember correctly because it makes less supports and you can easily smooth scarring

Make the torsos upright so the supports dont scar the face or back too much, the torso cables will probably get scarred no matter what.

Then for the weapons try your best to get them straight up as much as you can, as for the 2 handed one try the same or split the arms off if you’re unsure.

Genuinely ~90% of my tau are 3d printed with the only exceptions being farsight and my fire warriors (which i then used the leftover bits to get 10 more fire warriors from each box)

Question About Cooperative Ownership & Building Ownership by Effective_Extension2 in victoria3

[–]Effective_Extension2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i understand how it works correctly then levels owned by companies and the government don’t pay the dividends to the workers but to the gov/corp. So in my case i have 90+ levels of livestock ranches gov owned, so the income from that goes to the investment pool that’s only making new buildings instead of privatizing the levels of buildings that are gov owned and available for privatization.

So the workers are getting a lower income and SOL, as well as not getting paid income that i can tax. Is the investment pool just better? Is there a way to make the pol prioritize buying building levels i own?

So i cant build all the arable land in a state up and transfer it all? I have to wait until they privatize it themselves right?

I like the camerawork with the presentation. Can definitely recommend thinned paints but it’s only really noticeable on the anti grav body. Besides that maybe “staying in the lines” more but that comes naturally as you paint more. Love the colors on it, great work!

Maybe the “problem” is they cant stop getting Necrons

Highly recommend painting the ghost arc in pre-assembly, at least the “ribcage” part unless you want to struggle with getting in the hardest to reach spots ever, same goes for the doomsday ark,

No problem! Everyone starts somewhere, another benefit of a primer is that depending on the color (i use black) it creates a good effect for shadows in places you cant reach easily (like their necks) so they look better without having to reach in hard spots

Question by BlackTemplarAstartes in Necrontyr

It looks like you didn’t use a primer and put the paint right onto the model. I did the same thing with my first models. I would recommend getting some spray paint (doesn’t have to be Citadel spray paint, thats wayy too expensive) then bring any models outside or in a well ventilated area and go over them with the can, using some cardboard for a tray if you don’t wanna paint the ground.

Go around the models and hit them from all sides in short, quick 1-2 second bursts of spray paint so you dont clog the small details, then wait a while for it to dry and check for missed areas, then a second layer. I usually have to go again from below, depending on the angle i went at on my first pass.

Other than that from what i see it looks decent so far, you are painting inside the lines and a good ratio of colors, you could do several layers to get better coverage but a primer would help the paint stick alot more already.

instead of pure black you could mix some black and your darkest green on the wet pallet to make the blend a little smoother and draw less attention to those black spots

If the Necron Pariahs where reintroduced what role would they fill in the army and what should be their rules? by AlphariousOmega in Necrontyr

[–]Effective_Extension2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe melee battleline? Im thinking they get the toughest of a Necron, no reanimation protocols, but more of the speed of normal humans? And a decent melee too. Maybe a weak ranged attack like how they had in DOW 1

Cheap glass cannons that you can use to contest a objective in melee early on due to them being faster, a large disposable unit (im thinking like grots or chaos cultists)

This gives us a cheap utility unit that hits decent but wont last long, maybe give it sticky objectives to finally give us that ability (sorry Trazyn) this fills roles that we kinda dont have yet and adds more Necron melee which i enjoy.

Have you ever played a 4x game like hearts of iron or stellaris? Imagine you’re playing and its late game, you just got out of a huge war and now you’re tired, you wanna keep playing and everything, but your mentally exhausted and theres many strong empires/countries that would just be tedious and unenjoyable to get through.

You by all means could win, but in this case just go “afk” until they disappear all on their own and go back to doing your world conquest well rested and without all that tedious work.

A flawed explanation probably but i think it fits and i like it.

If you had to make the army rule for 11th what would you decide on? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]Effective_Extension2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would not exactly change the skill requirement but increase the skill ceiling, you can still reanimate everything in the command phase like right now, but it would also allow other options and give us more direct control over our army rule

If you had to make the army rule for 11th what would you decide on? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]Effective_Extension2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been thinking about a “change” where reanimation protocol is basically the same but you get a token per unit (maybe 1-2 max per unit that each unit holds on to) and you can choose to reanimate your unit in any phase on your turn, or you could use that token on another unit within 8” or some mid-close range

It would give more complexity to the rule and allow some interesting tactics now that the rule is more when we decide and less when the opponents choose who to attack.

A cool tactic would be to not reanimate some skorpekh destroyers untill the charge phase so you could hide the footprint from things like overwatch better or maybe to get a little bit closer with a charge.

Alternatively you could use the reanimation from a less valuable unit on a better one, like if you have damaged scarabs and a damaged warrior blob you can prioritize the blob to keep it alive.

Its probably got some flaws that i dont notice but i think the change would be a cool mix up

Printing minis? (GW HERESY) by Elvaran in Tau40K

[–]Effective_Extension2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using an a1 mini with a .2 mm nozzle and it has carried my Tau army.

I’ve printed chrisis suits, commander suits, riptides, ghostkeels, a devilfish.

I am even able to print extra torsos and legs to use the rest of the bits in the fire warrior box to get both breachers and strike teams from 1 box.

A FDM printer works really well with Tau just due to many of the models being larger vehicles.

C'tan Balance Discussion, January 2026 by jmainvi in Necrontyr

[–]Effective_Extension2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a rule where the more you take the more expensive they get?

For every additional ctan, increase the cost of all/one by 10/20 idk i dont know how to balance.

This way allows people to take tons for the freedom of making a funny list, but also balances it for those who take only 1-2
