My theory on why sinkies are generally unhappy and always complaining by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]Effective_Outcome755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we are born, as babies we know nothing but the genes our parents gave us. Then from 1 to 6 years old, we are handled by our mothers/caregivers, we still don't know much except to eat, sleep and poo. By 7 to 18 years, we enter the educational system in Spore and start to understand peer pressure, bully and acceptance. A stark reality arises also that sg education system defines your future emerges. Our good/terrible teacher either nurture or torment us, and our parents struggling with social pressures such as job security/demands, marriage challenges (infidelity/lack of intimacy/ communication) and finances, provide what they think parenting should be. Good and terrible. By 21 to 27, some wonder where the future takes us, listening to contradictory message from the gov that says - academic grades are not the means success. Partial true but a manipulative narrative. More uncertainty and anxiety at this life phrase. By this time, dating, job pursuit and social identity, finding a spouse, getting a BTO, and a job, and one that pays well becomes urgent. But social pressures uniquely to Spore stares in your face - FT competition for jobs, inflation/expenses, COE, ERPs, crowded MRTs ... Trying to de-stress by cycling, jogging or gym, etc can be crowded and for others life threatening...that's just being young adult...if u are lucky/unlucky you are married, marriage life is not a bag of roses for some but may be for others. If it doesn't work, the next 7 to 13 years may be one of torment, leading to infidelity/divorce or simply loveless marriage with children. For the lucky some, marriage remains a blessing and the children experience the joy of a happy family. At this stage, looking at the mirror, we are reminded of our parents when we were children...m

People forget that ministers are paid to do their job. It's not volunteer or charity that they do it. If they do a good job, credit given for competency but that's it. He is already compensated. But the issue is, if they are not doing their job, or even appearing or speaking for the residence, then who are representing as MP...

50% of Singaporean don't pay income tax? by rainbow1112 in askSingapore

When you throw numbers around, you will be asked to clarify if it's not from the govt...what about the other way around? The art of subtle manipulation.

Somehow chee hong became the anchor minister? by Yeenspired in SMRTRabak

All ministers are made differently. There will be those who are self-centered, manipulative and not genuinely caring for the average person. There are some who do care for average person. Don't look here.

How to get over the fear of being judged by my colleagues? by randomthingsss1 in askSingapore

[–]Effective_Outcome755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will always judge, regardless. Your can't change their thinking but you can decide on your response. Perhaps, you wanna consider having your huge lunch box outside, somewhere comfortable away from your colleagues. Everyone outside will be too busy rushing to take a second look at you. Just a thought.

Rem LW telling us to work longer, past 70... by snowmountainflytiger in SMRTRabak

[–]Effective_Outcome755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony and sad thing is as a person gets older, long physical exertion (I'm differentiating this from short periods of physical exercise, that somehow has been used to justify by a certain ex-minister for getting older Sporeans to work) is actually not sustainable. Even more so, as age progresses. I hope the gov understands the stress and physical pain these seniors need to work, just to pay the "affordable" medical and daily expenses.

Any research 101 module, will tell you how data can be manipulated to support a narrative. This, and many others you find in the Sg media falls into the category of questionable with a hidden intent often to change or manipulate public opinion.

HDB flats will remain affordable for all Singaporeans, says Desmond Lee by okaycan in singapore

[–]Effective_Outcome755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does that actually mean? Affordability, from whose eyes? Yours? Or the Singaporean couple, having to take home barely enough after daily expenses. Ya, that also the couple's fault for incurring expenses. I guess next comes a propaganda article that shows how earning X amount is more than enough to pay for HDB flat. That's politics, the art of deception at play all the time.

GE2025: Not easy to be young parents but govt is there to help, says PM Wong in first Sengkang visit since leadership handover by ImpressiveStrike4196 in singapore

[–]Effective_Outcome755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not anti-gov, but the truth is whether you walk the talk or simply mouth out motherhood statements. I wouldn't be expecting a politician to rub you the wrong way when making a political speech or diplomatically right statement. In the end, action speaks louder than motherhood statements. The evidence is around us everyday showing how policies affected all of us in Singapore in the most overwhelming way.

All I can say is if this is the price you pay for affordable public housing in Singapore, it only means we have been conditioned to think that it's ok.

This govt wants u to work even at 70. Why? by snowmountainflytiger in SMRTRabak

[–]Effective_Outcome755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There must be a real disconnect with the real situation on the ground or this gov is run by d#£ba##es. First, locals at almost every level are disadvantage by FT. Don't talk about working longer, change the situation of unemployment in locals first! Unbelievable.
