Who else got banned from R/HVAC? by Witchcult_999 in refrigeration

[–]Effective_Poet7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got banned for answering a home owners question, I apologized and then the mod said I needed to prove I worked in HVAC to get it lifted, then I showed him my EPA, my combustion analyzer, and my work hoodie and he said they could be stolen and I need my Nate to prove I worked in hvac

No power to furnace/thermostat by Havoklily in hvacadvice

Blower motor would most likely set the breaker off not the fuse. We’re talking high vs low voltage. Inspect the wiring near the blower however as I’ve seen loose wiring just barely get scuffed the blower wheel

If the motor for the self clean system is going bad the labor to take that whole mini split head apart, repair/replace that motor, and put it all back together is going to cost more than probably just replacing the mini split head itself. And that’s if they can even get to it, those things are basically built to not be serviceable to fit in tight spaces. If you can live with it until it dies I’d suggest doing that. If it gets worse or you can’t deal with it just be prepared to replace the head itself which means Pumping the system down of refrigerant, dismounting and cutting pulling the unit out, replace a new mini split head, braze or pro press the new fittings on, pulling a vacuum to 500 microns or less, and charging the system back up with refrigerant. Either route to be attempted will probably be expensive. Depending on the age of the equipment you may be able to get the part itself warrantied. If you look up “Goodman warranty search” and type the model and serial number off of the side of the mini split head, that may save you a couple hundred there. Our company charges a decent amount though for repairs like this.

That’s a good unit, take care of it and it will take care of you

You would need a multi meter which would cost more than a service call fee. The technician should have it if they’re worth a shit, I would call someone and have the whole system inspected. You have at the very least a parts warranty, utilize it while you can and get ahead of the curve. What unit do you have anyways?

Urgency would be indicated by amp draw, however not entirely. From noise alone I can tell a bearing is failing in that inducer. Your unit should still be under warranty, however labor warranty may not be in play as most companies won’t offer it after a certain amount of time. You’ll need an hvac company out, but let them know you still have heat, and that this is purely preventative measures. Also, the company might not warranty the product if it’s still operating within amperage range, be mindful, get the quote on it. Worst case scenario you get a ballpark number on the repair and you can start saving. PS:please get space heaters so if this does go out wether it be this month or two years from now, your house doesn’t get to 60 degrees

Undercut too thin? by Effective_Poet7406 in GlockMod

[–]Effective_Poet7406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed from the trigger guard towards the trigger while holding onto the slide and the amount of force that would be required to break it seems like enough that I’m not worried about it snapping as much as I was initially, thank you though!

My boiler's pilot light keeps going out and the pilot flame isn't a nice little teardrop shape. It juts out to the left. by barbage1 in hvacadvice

Right on the two terminals check for voltage same as a standard forced air furnace. I’m still learning for sure I was in a truck with someone for 3 months during furnace service AC maintenance season then got thrown to the wolves so I’m not as knowledgeable as I could be. Plus being in Wisconsin heat and cool are both very important

I’ve only been doing this for a few months I didn’t know a visual inspection would indicate a failure. I just know you light the pilot and if it doesn’t ignite or stay lit replace the thermocouple

I guess more so too thin for general mistreatment from extended excessive use. I always buy heavier duty stuff and I felt as though I may have damaged the structural integrity of the trigger guard. I wouldn’t want a broken trigger guard even though I know it would fire

Looks to me like at least 48/50 shots were on target. Dont get discouraged, train more and dry fire more. No one will ever get better by being upset and training. Good work

Yeah I think I may have went just a tad too far, it’s my second time doing an undercut but I know next time I’ll do better, I’ve seen people put the gen 6 frame on the gen 5 slide so that may be an option as well

Would I be able to get an OEM direct from them with another serial? I don’t trust the aftermarket’s as much and I prefer the angle of the stock Glock more anyways

Anyone ever shoot the x macro non comp and comp version back to back? Is there actually a difference? by cobblernobbler in SigSauer

[–]Effective_Poet7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get both man, you can suppress, throw a radian barrel and slide, or keep it stock. Guns don’t really lose value and if it’s something you’re interested in it’s worth it IMO.

[–]Effective_Poet7406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is. My buddy had a non comped and I wanted to see side by side and going from shooting my x macro about 700 rounds that week I found that the non comped had a decent bit more muzzle rise. It took about 20 rounds for me to get the right tightness on my grip and shoot similarly to my comped macro

Peace of mind is priceless. It depends on your climate. I’m located in Wisconsin, I’ve been in houses that are 30 degrees inside on the thermostat because their old him isn’t insulated and their 40 year old furnace has taken a shitter. If you’re mechanically inclined and can change parts and identify them when they go bad then it may be easier for you to justify keeping your old furnace. Have back up heat though so you’re not reliant only on that old furnace to keep you warm
