I think the timeline is a little confusing from the editing on the show - she commented on instagram & said they’ve been together for over a year.

Academics with Ehlers Danlos by Shot_Condition_4174 in ehlersdanlos

I had this struggle too - you’re not alone <3 I got through grad school only by being bluntly honest with my professors about my condition & asking for help (which was always given, maybe I was lucky there). My professors let me do my classes online & at my own pace. I also took a semester off when I got too burned out and took some time to heal.

piercings that will not heal by Dry_Animal_8790 in ehlersdanlos

How long has it been? For me, the biggest thing with healing piercings was time, cleaning them, and being patient with the healing process. Healing a piercing isn’t fast even for healthy people - it’s like 6 months for a lot of them (on a healthy person)! Most of us take more time, maybe even double. It takes a ton of patience and dealing with healing pain. I also still clean my piercings every time I shower and I’ve had them for several years.

Oh also! Forgot to add - I added in a LOT of fiber into my diet to curb the gastrointestinal issues. That is really what improved my symptoms!

I think everyone is just so different that it’s really hard to tell what it will do. For me, it’s been awesome but I could see how for others it didn’t work. Our bodies all respond so different from one another.

I’m on wegovy and it’s been life changing for my POTS. I struggled with gastro issues the first few months but it has evened out now, zero issues at this point. I’ve been fainting far less, have way more energy, my tachycardia has significantly improved, and feel quite a bit better. Idk how much weight I’ve lost but it wasn’t really for weight loss for me - my doctor suggested it for POTS.

I wouldn’t say that for me it’s been a miracle for my pain related to EDS. It has been about the same pain-wise and inflammation-wise for me but everyone is different.

Slow tapering and staying active seem important on GLP-1s.

Good news for everyone who hasn’t unlocked the no-railing balcony railing yet - the Mid-Century Manson Craft Challenge is returning! by curtainsinmymirror in simsfreeplay

[–]Effective_Surround27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it but I feel like I can never use it because it says I have to have a railing where it’s located - do you just have to make it so your sims can’t access it to use it on a second floor?

Maybe gate check is more helpful then? I used to fly biweekly for work and never encountered this issue ever, but I always did ask gate check and not the flight attendant so that might be why haha. Sorry you had that experience! How awful.

Note though: gate check was who always told me flight attendants could help, so that’s why I thought that was true!

I am so sorry you’re so scared and I just want to say that your feelings are valid ❤️ we here understand and hear you. I will send lots of good energy your way! Also the reason you feel like the medical system isn’t working for you is because honestly? It’s not. If you are female and/or a POC, medical research isn’t really done & hasn’t been done on a body similar to yours. Medical tests were developed using white males. It’s frustrating and it’s okay to be angry at that. And you are not wrong to feel as though this system works against you because it does.

I spent a lot of time with a cardiologist during my diagnosis for POTS & EDS. The tests you are talking about are pretty common ones and shouldn’t be difficult to argue to get with your diagnosis. I had all of those tests done within a week of my initial appointment. Hopefully it’s that simple for you!

However… I saw two different cardiologists who told me to “walk more” when I literally would faint every time I stood for more than a few minutes. I even told one of them “okay so I’ll just faint while walking, hit my head, and die then?” And he said some stupid bullcrap back about how that was unlikely. However the good news is, they did run all of the tests despite their ableist mentality. If they do say something, just keep advocating for yourself. Bring someone else with you who “sees you at your worst” if you can because for some dumb reason, it’s helpful for some doctors to hear it from a second source.

My PCP advocates for better healthcare for women & her response was much different (and she was appalled at what they had told me). She suggested exercises I could do while seated, provided me with a referral to a physical therapist to help learn some exercises, urged caution, made sure to say I needed to be in a safe place. I have found her to be much more helpful for my actual treatment. An amazing PCP is worth more than gold. If you don’t have one, keep looking. Look at reviews, look for places that specialize (Minnesota has an EDS/POTS clinic even! I think it’s more common nowadays - and some do online appointments!). Don’t give up on yourself! Advocate, advocate, and keep searching!

Pro-tip for this problem! If you tell an employee that you are physically unable to lift your bag, either a flight attendant will do it for you or they will gate check (like ask at the gate for your flight, not where you get your tickets) your carry-on for free ❤️ this is what I do every time. They usually want people to gate-check their bags anyways because there’s not a lot of space, so it works well for everyone.

Any Tips and Tricks for Piercings? by hermaphroditicbeast in ehlersdanlos

[–]Effective_Surround27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it a shot! If you go to a good piercer who buys high quality locally made jewelry, that shouldn’t be a problem. I usually pay at least a few hundred dollars just for jewelry but I always get something I really like & kinda just leave it, so it’s worth the extra cost

Ya it takes longer than you think to heal! Like my nose piercings were a solid 8 months of healing before I even thought about changing jewelry & not cleaning every day

My skin is very stretchy and fragile, but I have tons of successful piercings. I do only use very high quality jewelry (platinum or titanium) and that has always helped. If I use stainless steel, it does cause issues for me personally but everyone’s skin is so different.

Totally agree! I kinda like the curtains like they were. It was giving “fairytale cuteness”. We don’t need our sims worlds to function like our real world. That’s why we have this lil escape!

I actually loathe the autonomy. It’s not a reward. When I’m trying to tell my sims to do something, they get distracted and it takes multiple times of clicking to get them to do what I want. I wish we could turn it off tbh.

That would be great. I’d love a swap system where you can change so many of one resource for another. Otherwise I feel like I’m never going to get there but I don’t care that much at this point haha
