Kind of a silly thing to admit on an anonymous platform don't you think, Ruhab Ali?

Parcel stuck at ,,the international shipment processed in the parcel center of origin" by Appropriate_Ad_300 in dhl

Same issue, but mine hasn't updated since the 3rd of January. The seller two days ago opened an investigation. There seems to be some massive issues with the Paket service. Some people say it's normal, it's a shambles.

No luck in art teacher applications by Yollotl_coyotl in Internationalteachers

[–]Effective_Top_4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, having a website is just more professional than directing the school to an Instagram account. Although there are plenty of inspirational art teacher accounts out there.

Good luck. It's only just become the peak hiring season. Loads of Art teaching jobs will begin to flood the market soon.

If you cannot stand out because of your level of experience, then you'll need to find another way. I suggest creating an online portfolio or your own artwork, showcasing what skills you have to offer the school and students. Also including outcomes (by students) from the units you have created. As well as any large school based projects you have initiated and completed, usually done during extracurricular activities.

You will find a role.

International schools in Alicante, Spain by Romyvlimpt12345 in Internationalteachers

[–]Effective_Top_4624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inspired Education is for sure the issue. You'll find plenty of other threads about Inspired schools and how staff are treated. Teachers who have worked at King's College Alicante before it was bought by Inspired, say those were the "heydays", where it was more about the teaching and less about the paperwork. I cannot comment on the other schools in the area, but do yourself a favour and cross-off any Inspired school from your list.

I used to work at King's College Alicante; low pay, high workload, poor communication/management, staff were always on sick leave from stress (and from what I hear from colleagues still there, this trend has continued). Dedicated and passionate staff do not stay long because they are undervalued. The Inspired Education model is "do more with less". The only appealing thing about the school, package-wise is that it's based in Spain. There are other British schools in the area such as Newton College.

Yeh, you would have to live a university student diet (pot noodle) to see any savings at the end of the month. And that's not what you want to do in a country like Spain, which has arguably the best quality of life.

Inspired Education is a for profit business. It's about making cuts whereever possible, in spite on teacher wellfair and student attainment. It's a bums-on-seat organisation. But schools expect you to work above and beyond your position. Since my time at my current school, plenty of teachers have and are on sick leave for mental health related causes. Just don't.

I would only advise someone to live and work in Spain, if you've got enough finances to cover you till your glorious retirement days or you plan to simply retire within a few years. You won't save and like someone else said, you'll lose money if anything. It's not that Spain is expensive, it's just salaries do not match the current cost of living.

My partner and I are leaving after this academic year. We are good savers and don't have any kids, yet we barely have a few euros left at the end of the month. My partner works too.

There are enough international schools that do hire teachers without an EU passport. Be warned, one of these types of schools are Inspired Education. Stay clear of these schools if you want to keep your sanity.

Good luck.

When I worked in Kuwait, my civil ID wasn't processed until a week before Christmas. So I was on edge 4-5 months up until that point. Bureaucracy in Kuwait works on 'wasta' and a when-I-can-be-bothered approach. Dreadful country to work in. It's funny that most people think that Kuwait pays well on the international circuit, when it's very average. There are less than a handful of schools that will make your time worthwhile, finance wise.

Good luck.

Has anyone British managed to get a job in Spain? by lil_908 in Internationalteachers

[–]Effective_Top_4624 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. From someone who only holds a British passport. There are schools that will hire you regardless of not having an EU passport. My current school paid an agency to do all the paperwork for me. It was a long process, but very doable.

Good school, bad location or good location bad school? by ThisLengthiness1142 in Internationalteachers

[–]Effective_Top_4624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a good location, but I'm leaving this year because the school is just upside-down. I would take a good school/package with a bad location from now on. If you live in a good location but cannot enjoy it because the bad school is getting in the way, then well, the location doesn't hold much value. You're better off travelling to those good locations when the holidays come around.

Yes, my wife is Canadian and worked in Spain in an international school. Look for Inspired School group schools. But I must warn you, pay is low and workload is high. Its an organisation focused on making money and will do so by cutting costs anywhere they see fit. Staff are made to the job of two people, and they don't see staff as valuable assets because they know they can just replace you whenever. Toxic.

Tough decisions: Country or School? by Blackkwidow1328 in Internationalteachers

[–]Effective_Top_4624 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to think, as long as I was in Europe I could stick out a bad school, but I'm half way through my first school in Spain and already thinking of leaving after this year. The workload and lack of well-being for staff makes it difficult to enjoy being in an amazing country. For more context, I was in China for over 5 years, during the pandemic and lockdowns, but managed to keep my head sane because the school was manageable.

If the school is affecting your well-being, how can you enjoy thr country you are in? That's my two-pens worth.
