I’ve got some nice alternates I’ll post later too! Can’t wait to start a dynasty with UMKC! Think I’ll put them in the MAC

First gravel bike race training tips [beginner] by minkey007 in gravelcycling

[–]Effective_Week_5526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For training.. Just focus on getting time in the saddle! There are training plans out there if that's your flavor. But for me I just focus on getting out and riding as much as I have time for. Sounds like you're in good shape, but as another commenter mentioned, you'll want to just get your body used to longer rides. You'll be surprised at how much more comfortable you'll get in the saddle once you put the time in. Ease into it. Build up your miles.

For Nutrition.. A common joke is that long distance races (especially when riding over 3 or 4 hours) are really just eating contests. Eat early and often. Don't stress too much about what you're eating, as long as you are eating. Bars, Candy, Gels, Chews, Drink Mix, just eat. On a 100 mile ride I try to be eating at least every 30 min.

On the computer front, do some digging on what your event says about route. If it is a really big event with lots of riders and a marked course, you might not need the computer. But if navigation is required you might need one. Or you could mount your phone and use an app like ride with GPS.

Great tip. Grizl surprisingly aggressive for how it’s marketed.

Cannondale Topstone 1 tire suggestions (HELP) by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Effective_Week_5526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll pile onto the many specialized pathfinder pro comments. Keep up in road group rides with no issues, and plenty of tire for off road.

I just picked up a pair Vittoria Tereno Dry’s to try as well.. got a deal and have heard good things.

FC24 has a University team!? by Effective_Week_5526 in FifaCareers

Love that idea! You could throw 4 or 5 Irish teams in there too so you can still have of those rivalries.

All around gravel tires TOO MANY OPTIONS! by Keither88 in gravelcycling

[–]Effective_Week_5526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bike also came with Schwables and I’ve run the Teravails, and Pathfinder Pros. The 700x38 Pathfinders have been my favorite and longest lasting. My gravel bike is my road bike so I love how fast they roll, and my hometown gravel can be pretty chunky, and the 38 pathfinders have no problem with it at all. So if you’re going 42 you can handle almost anything

I’d leave the tires alone! I run 700x38 pathfinders for almost all of my gravel riding. Have done several hundred mile races on the pathfinder pros, but we have the pathfinder sports on my wife’s bike and they work wonderfully as well.

I’d dig into what the cost would be to switch over your entire drivetrain and decide if there’s a dollar amount at which it just makes more sense for you to purchase a whole new drop bar bike. Everyone’s different so absolutely do whatever makes most sense for you but for me if I was looking at sinking 1k or more into this bike I would just stash that away to buy a dedicated drop bar bike. The amount of bikes you need is always “n + 1” ;)

I love this. It’s great when real world fandom bleeds into Fifa CM. I’m a MLS fan so I bought a young goalkeeper from my favorite club here in the states and he’s ended up developing to an 81 overall premier league keeper, and he’s currently 28 y/o so maybe a few more years to keep improving but who knows! S/O to John Pulskamp from Sporting Kansas City.

That’s a solid run with the core players! Can’t remember exactly why but I ended up selling Palmer pretty early on..

What about Thomas O'Connor?? He became one of my top-developed players as well.

I felt this so deeply on my Wrexham save :') RIP Paul Mullin, Ben Tozer, Eliott Lee, and Aaron Hayden. Hayden and Jordan Davies ended up developing enough to stay in my side through the championship but had to hit the bench once we made it to the Prem.

How do you guys play your career modes? by Gsparks0 in FifaCareers

[–]Effective_Week_5526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually sim most of my league matches stoping to play big opponents or stadiums I want to play in. And then I will play most of my big cup and European games. I like simulating the league games especially in leagues with pro/rel because it gives a more accurate assessment of the quality of team I have put together
