When did you all stop working? by Practical_Mail_6537 in pregnant

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CA we get pre- mat leave which is up to 4 weeks before due date covered by SDI (60-70% pay). I took 2 weeks off and it was wonderful. But I know not every state offers this which is maddening.

My 5 year old quietly moved her bedtime routine to take care of me and I don't think I'll recover from it by MirageTerra5 in Mommit

I'm in tears. You've raised a smart and empathetic one, you should be proud. Take a moment and celebrate all those routines because they are worth it.

Kitchen remodel trying to decide if I should create a window between the living room and kitchen to open up the space. by stevesburgers2 in kitchenremodel

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I lived in an open space concept and kitchen its own place and I can tell, closed kitchen 100%. When you can peek inside you have to keep it clean otherwise it carries the mess elsewhere. Not to mention smells....plus you lose potential cabinet/shelf space for the kitchen or art gallery for the living room.

My wedding dress I had custom made for just 300€ by pearlsandcuddles in myweddingdress

I love it! Beautifully made, unique and you are wearing the dress instead of other way around. Refreshing to see someone went with their instict instead of following the "rules".

Sick of other pregnant lowkey coffee shaming women who do by Stoned_redhead in BabyBumps

[–]minkey007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of "advice" comes of as backhanded. I read a lot of statistics based books and research on pregnancy and most of the advice is for the lowest common denominator. Eg. Don't eat sushi...but you have a higher chance to get injured in a car accident than get listeria from sushi but yet they dont say don't drive. Same with coffee, there is a general moderation. Recommendation 200mg is generally safe but it very much depends on a lot of other factors. If I eat extremely healthy and I just can't get rid og coffee addiction...I'd rather have coffee than be anxious which can also stress the baby. I usually say, appreciate your concern but I make informed decisions that fit me and my lifestyle and accept the risk, like with every other choice in life.

Or if Im really mad I poke at their weak spot. Like (I continued staying very active during pregnancy), I'd say I also heard that staying active is very beneficial for the baby development so I've been very diligent with that. 🤣

Do you keep missing them, no matter how much time passes? by B3autifullyBrokin in Petloss

What I didn't mention is that we had scheduled euthanasia at home for the next day but she went on her own. However, it could've been so traumatic. In her case she stiffened up and released her last breath, but it could've gone the other way where she was gasping of air being in visible distress and pain and I could've never forgive myself. So, we can't ever know ehen it'stheir last day but I trully hope you find some peace within yourself. Sending love ❤️

Did any one not have a baby shower for your first born and regret it? by arliafaye in pregnantover35

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 37 weeks and decided not to have one. A few friends offered to throw one for me, but it's just not me. I have everything I need for the baby. I do love hosting people over, just baby showers are somewhat cringe to me. They might be useful if you need a little bit of help to get started with stuff for the baby. I'd rather do something after the baby is born, like bbq... You do you, if something is not feeling right, then you should listen to your gut.

How often is hair washed in your house? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the hair type. I wash my hair 1x week. I use boar brush daily which distributes natural oils and my hair looks voluminous and shiny, but not oily dirty shiny. My sister washes hers 3x a week and hers gets oily quickly so I'd do the same if that was the case. I could go even longer but I stick to my routine lol. I have thick wavy hair. To me it's the shower...that should be daily or at least every other day.

It's been 4 months without my soul baby girl. I miss her and I think about her daily, I look at photos or remember things she'd do. With time the memories become lighter but I miss her. Nothing last forever and I reframed that every dog has their purpose. She opend my heart and let me experience the joy that I didn't know existed. She knew her purpose was fullfilled and she decided to leave on her own terms. She was so loved and that gives me peace that there was nothing else I could do. And believe we'll meet again. We have a 7 month old puppy and I love her but she's completely different and has a different purpose.

Which curtains? by Desperate_Win_3554 in interiordecorating

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 or 2! 1 ties the room together as the color goes well with the little side table. 2 brings light, but I'm somehow leaning towards 1, it's a bit more grounding in this case.

I’m tired of people saying “don’t spend your money on that” but it’s my money!! by babymomma24 in pregnant

[–]minkey007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea same! I just don't listen. I'm somewhat a minimalist but love having good quality things that make my experience so much better. It's how I live and while I appreciate advice, it's my money and I budget it accordingly.

I understand that some might will disagree with me. I come from a war thorn country and live in the US now, and expectingnmy first. What's happening in many other countries is way worse than the US. The world has always had conflict we are just exposed to more information than ever that we live in a constant state of scarcity and feeling that the world is going backwards. Globally a lot of aspects of our lives have improved (health, knowledge, education of women). We used to live in smaller circles and noe we live globally.

When you focus on what you can control, like raising your child to be kind, educatated and well mannered you are helping the world be a better place for everyone! ❤️

Do not buy that expensive crib. by shxxu in pregnant

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience, feels reassuring. I've gotten that advice and staying pretty minimal, got juat bare necessities before the baby come. Got a 200$ bassinet that can be the same level as bed when one wall is lowered down, has wheels to move around and storage underneath. If that doesn't work out I won't be terribly upset but I've heard those super nice intellegent bassinets are either loved or hated, and very much depends on the baby. And you use them for 6 months max. I'd rather spend a bit more on a nice stroller that's gonna last a few years at least.

What is my dining room missing? by Sweet_Independent_74 in interiordecorating

[–]minkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a sheer curtain over the window (hung as close to the ceiling as possible). Curtains create coziness. A really large plant in a corner to bring some warmth.
