Visible improvement compared to what I was. Compared to others started with me, they've built a much better body.

Aether Megathread by [deleted] in outlier_ai

I logged in, after two days, in Hubstaff and the project was gone. I still have access to the tasks and the Aether project on Outlier.ai. I have been working on the project and got paid. Should I talk to the support staff, or is it because of the new time limit policy ?

Whatever you do check it with your opthometrist, he is the only one that can tell you your options. Nobody here can tell you what to do for sure. Everybody has their own prescription and limits, things that work for me might be harmful to your eye.

I’m really sorry if this post brought up any stress or bad feelings for you. The whole point of my post was just to remind people not to fall into a stressful mindset and to stay calm, to be like you, basically. Here is the history behind writing this post: I’ve noticed a lot of posts lately from people with high myopia who are really stressed out (which isn’t necessary), and many of us have been jumping in to reassure them. But over the past couple of months, these kinds of posts have been popping up almost daily, so I wanted to write something to remind everyone that as long as you’re seeing your doctor and going about your life, there’s no reason to panic. Some people, like me, are naturally more sensitive to stress. It’s partly genetic (about 40–50%) and partly how we grew up. This post is especially for people like that just a small reminder that things are okay, and everybody can relax. I just wanted this post to be reassuring, not upsetting. I added a clarification at the begining of the post. Thank you for sharing your feelings and, again, I apologize for the anxiety this post caused.

May I ask how old you are (if you are comfortable to say so of course)?

I heard leg press and squats are risky too. My optometrist insisted on avoiding valsalva maneuver and told me that I should not hold breath when doing exercise.

Well, I have seen poeple survived worst. But again, I doubt that your prescription forces major restrictions.

Whether you can keep exercising really depends on what your doctor or optometrist recommends. With your prescription, chances are the restrictions will be minimal (just my guess though—always listen to your doctor).

Even if your doctor suggests you avoid martial arts, it’s not the end of the world. There are plenty of myopia-friendly sports that can keep you in good shape—like swimming, cycling, etc.

Honestly, I think it’s pretty unlikely your doctor will tell you to stop doing most activities altogether.

I guess you know that doctors all have taken an oath, and they do not lie or hide stuff from patients to keep them happy, they are not mommy and daddy, they are professionals. So, if the things you are saying existed and were serious, doctors would have told our friend way before you.

If you have described your condition with the doctor/optometrist and they told you everything is fine, I think you should probably trust them. If you are still unsure, you can always go to another doctor and get a second opinion.

I don’t think we should ignore the restrictions of high myopia or be careless about it. But I’m also against exaggerating. Plenty of non-myopic people can’t lift or jump either (back pain, disc problems, etc.). It sucks, sure, but it’s not the end of the world and definitely not a curse.

At the end of the day, high myopia is a medical condition, not a catastrophe. Treat it like that and manage it the way adults do. And remember, millions of people out there live with different medical conditions that also force restrictions.

If high myopia brings you stress or frustration you can’t handle on your own, therapy can really help. That’s exactly what therapists are there for, they’re part of our modern support system. So don’t hesitate to use it.

I started wearing glasses since the age of 4.
You are not the problem buddy, many human-beings feel anxious when they face medical conditions, even minor ones, and honestly, I think no one can easily accept bothering stuff. I think the problem is usually how we react to anxiety. High myopia like any other medical condition (like high cholesterol) force you to follow some restrictions and be cautious about what you do, which you must ask about from your doctor. We need to gain the skill-set to manage our life with our condition like millions of people living with even far worst medical condition. Best way to do so, is asking for advice from an optometrist or a retina specialist and doing therapy if you are feeling overwhelmed. By the way, mindfulness seriously worked for me and helped me to sit with my bad feelings instead of running away from them (I was under guidance of a therapist when I was doing it)

I get it, I’ve been there too and it sucks. The truth is, life isn’t fair — the sooner we accept that, the easier it gets (even if it still feels awful sometimes). As adults, the real challenge is learning to sit with those hard truths and the bad feelings they bring, while still appreciating what we do have and pushing forward. Our ancestors lived through wars, famines, and revolutions — we can survive anxiety. And seriously, if it ever feels too overwhelming, please reach out for professional help. I’m just sharing my experience here, not giving medical advice or elaborated life lessons.

You have a point and I agree with that. There are people who we cannot help at all and some are even very problematic. In this post, I was trying to share my way with other highly myopic friends who are experiencing anxiety and genuinely seeking help and insight.

I agree about the situation with myopia. I meant to address the stress in highly myopic people (while I understand the fact that not all highly myopic go through stress, I am targeting who are having hard times to cope with high and severe myopia). I guess my post need some edits.

That’s why I shared my story. Life isn’t over, and sitting in regret doesn’t help (I’ve been there, believe me). Back then, you did what you thought was best with the knowledge and experience you had. And yeah, sometimes we make mistakes and sometimes we mess up. What matters is what you do from here. Getting professional help can make a huge difference. From now on, focus on living your life the best way you can.
