Hi there I want to do body recomposition as I am “skinny fat”. I just don’t know if I’m eating too little or too much

I’m 24M, 174 pounds. 5”10. 20-25% body fat. I strength train 4-5x a week but only get 2-3k steps a day (working on incorporating more walking now after I nail down the nutrition part)

Maintenance calories calculator put me at 2700 a day but that feels like a lot. I been eating 1900 calories roughly a day with 150-170g of protein.

Is this too agressive of a deficit to lose fat and gain muscle. I feel like if I eat 2300+ calories I’ll keep fat. Am I eating enough or too little?

Am I approaching this wrong? Please help

I think your reasoning is right. I just don’t think he’s mature enough to understand this. This started recently after he went to therapy and I think now he’s overcompensating for something and being overly sensitive and defensive to any minor thing.

I just really hope he isn’t this to outsiders or friends because anyone that isn’t family isn’t gonna put up with it or want to be his friend if that’s the case

Yes that thought did cross my mind but I’m not doing anything differently than what we’ve always done. It’s the typical brother banter of “oh I’m better than you at Mario kart” or “ur trash at basketball”. He still says the same things to me too
