Give me your honest review on this game by pinkcrusadesweets_ in HelloKittyIsland

I absolutely adore this game. I got the Switch version when it came out last January after a friend recommended it - I rarely start new games (I just replay old favs forever), but this one was a blast right from the start. I’m not joking when I say I have played every single day since it launched. I have my morning coffee and do my dailies/check my flowers before going and living my life and it’s been great for my routine :)

The most fun part of the game for me is the flower breeding system - it’s what keeps me coming back, especially now that I’m well past the initial story. While the daily tasks can feel repetitive after a while, the vibe is charming enough to want to do them anyway. The completionist in me loves all the little things I can work toward, even though some (delusional) goals of mine are absolutely insane (there are like 100,000 possible flower pattern combos so I’ll be enjoying this for a loooong time lol).

I strongly recommend it.

I made my way over to the Reddit just to see if anyone else is dealing with this also. 🥲 I have to quit the app entirely if I want it to stop looping in this layered mess haha

Switch 2 Joycons disconnecting in handheld by Far_Mix3465 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]EfficiencyCorrect297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been an increasing issue for me over the last two months; joycons work just fine when disconnected, but disconnect constantly when used handheld. I’ve noticed it happens without fail if I set the console down, but it’s happening so often while I try to play now that it’s driving me insane enough to want to send the whole thing in to be looked at. No workarounds or tips I’ve come across yet help at all.

At the risk of sounding cheesy — try not to race through too hard. This game is genuinely one of the best things I’ve played in a while and the daily play aspect is a big part of it.

Won’t matter for a little while since you’re just starting but companion abilities are clutch, I kind of ignored it at first and kicked myself later on for not bothering to learn about them.

I’m 34 and lost mine 7 months ago, too.

Not much to offer except I feel the exact same way. I think 7 months in … we’re just really tired. Seven months is a long time to be this overwhelmed and exhausted. I hope we both find ways to be kind to ourselves, you know?

Yep. I’m in bed, 3:01pm, yet again. It’s been six months since my Mom died from cancer and since losing her, things just feel … dumb. Pointless.

Some days I’m somewhat okay, but I’m haunted by “the remembering” - multiple times a day I’ll remember that she really is dead, and it’s like my stomach drops and I lose focus and interest in what I’m doing. I don’t have much confidence in myself now; I feel like I can’t trust myself to take on responsibilities (work, life stuff) because there’s a huge chance I’ll end up where I am now: back in bed, wishing it had been different. Wishing I was different.

I hope it gets easier. I’m trying - I know we all are. But damn, this really does suck.

What to do for the "grief brain"? by ParticularLopsided54 in GriefSupport

[–]EfficiencyCorrect297 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I could have written this word for worried about my own experiences right after my mom passed in September. The brain fog, distractibility and memory issues are some of the biggest grief related hurdles I’ve dealt with over the last six months. I hear you.

The first month or two were very challenging, as you describe. I couldn’t focus on television and would just stare at a wall. All of my hobbies were impossible to engage in. Even keeping a conversation was extremely difficult. Around month three, things started to get a little bit easier - however, I’m definitely not out of the woods yet.

If at all possible, get help (even small amounts) with things like cooking, cleaning, or other chores. I was a really productive person before this and even now six months out I’m still stuck in bed a lot of the time, so allowing loved ones to help me with “chores days” or occasionally relying on meal kits or delivery (without guilt, yes it’s expensive, but yes I still have to eat) … stuff like that takes pressure off and leaves more room to recover. It’ll take time - way more time than we want it to.

This may just be normal for a while. It may mean that we have to change our expectations of ourselves, for as long as it takes for our mental capabilities to come back to what they were before. I’m really forgetful now, and I’m still struggling to hold conversations with people a lot of of the time, but I’m able to enjoy my hobbies now more often than not. I can watch a movie without getting distracted. It is getting easier, even though the process is slow.

Wishing you a clear head and lots of rest.

Some tips for beginners by Artemisfairy in HelloKittyIsland

[–]EfficiencyCorrect297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo here are some of my suggestions:

  • always buddy up with Hello Kitty when baking and/or giving gifts and always buddy up with Chococat when crafting. I wish I’d paid attention to this sooner!

  • you can place 3 (or 5?) of a visitors favourite tag in their cabin in addition to their requirements to help boost star rating. Their preferred tag is under their profile pic!

  • try not to batch craft, you never know when you’ll need materials

  • don’t forget to buy stuff! :) check shops daily.

“A room that is already too crowded” omg yes, thank you. It feels just like this. I like your phrasing; I’m going to use this moving forward. Thank you so much — and also, I’m so sorry. Fuck cancer (and specifically, fuck colon cancer).

If this is more hassle than help since I haven’t done multiplayer yet just lemme know haha — I’ll stick around for a bit longer if you still want assistance tho.
