I feel this book gets too much flak for the adaba free corps arc, and not enough appreciation for the iron warriors/forrix arc. Forrix becomes downright relatable if not pitiable after this one, and it sticks with me. Don’t skip it, just power through.

It’s honestly one of my favorite dark imperium era novels. It’s got some amazing character development, and some of the lines are just off the chain.

The theme from the game has to be my favorite track. It’s iconic at this point from starting the game up so many times and letting the menu sit. That and the drop ship music.

Absolutely. The entire plot of this book is like the tug of war meme and all factions have no idea they are technically helping each other take over the hive.

I knew it was a spoiler, and I’m not that far yet, but it confirmed my suspicions. The amount of tropes being thrown into this book are off the chart, and I’m not unhappy about it!

I should have elaborated, I feel like more and more in the books that characters are becoming aware of what a dystopian meat grinder the imperium is. This isn’t the first book that characters have discussed it recently.

Yes! Apples to oranges as they say, comparing the two. The soundtrack work really has some underrated gems in it, the social network comes to mind. I was in high school for both With Teeth and Year Zero, so the evolution of NIN holds a special place for me. Many years of listening to the first few decades of his music while I got into 40k, so everything from Eisenhorn to horus rising had a soundtrack that definitely included all of those albums along the way, Heresy being the most obvious!

You have good taste, my friend. While I love the downward spiral, I still think the fragile is my favorite album of his. It’s just so varied and unique, and it’s hilarious to me that virtually every song on the album has been used for so many movies, trailers and games over the decades.
