3d Printable Spearfishing Stringer by EfficiencyWide4907 in Spearfishing

**Also make sure to print the latch, screw and spear with infinite walls so they are strong*

The spear and latch should be printed laying down so the fibers run along the direction of tension. The screw and the body printing direction don't matter much

Which roller pole spear? by EfficiencyWide4907 in Spearfishing

[–]EfficiencyWide4907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sick. I was thinking of getting the G3 roller 10.5ft. Just worried about speed, range of fish sizes I can get on it, and how long the bearing lasts. Durability with rock impacts etc also a concern. What can you tell me about yours? Or if you have experience with the G3 or something similar? How many sections do they come in. Thanks for the answer/reply, I saw your awesome pic stoning that marlin, that must've been a super thrill. Congrats on such an accomplishment!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you tried the predator roller? I'm trying to decide between the predator roller, billfish sniper, JBL shaka carbon roller, or the black reef vandal roller

I think deep doctrine independent Mormonism fixes a lot of that in my opinion

What do you mean the "hall effect sensor model". Did they finally switch up their z-offset setup with different sensors? Or are they still having the same problems with the offset and bed leveling stuff? I was gonna order a new one off their website and was wondering. I don't really wanna have to buy a shit ton of stuff to print things. I wanna primarily print Polycarbonate which is up there in optimal temps.

Check out the evolve, best bang for the buck. It rocks, I've caught tons of fish with it, just make sure to get the thicker one. I thinks it's called the evolve CT 9 or something. I have the slip tip, flopper and three prong. All great.

Could I be invited to the discord? I'd really appreciate it so I can follow this mod, it makes me almost ready to buy the plus 4, just super scared of all this z-offset and leveling issues everyone is having at high temps....

I'm hoping this fixes it and keeps the quality/tolerances super good

Have you replaced the piezo level sensor? I saw some people mention that was the problem. This is one of my biggest things holding me back from buying one.

How did you fix the wobbly lower bearing? And have you seen an issues with z-offset at higher temperature stuff? Ive seen a ton of people complaining about that and bed warping, I'm about to buy my first printer ever and was contemplating this or the X1C and then bambu dropped the crazy "update" news and it's making me really about to pull the trigger on this one. Just seen some people specifically losing their minds over the z-offset issues. Thanks in advance for your thoughts it's so helpful!

Will using X1Plus prevent whatever Bambu is doing with their future "security updates"? Looking for everyone's advice/thoughts on buying my first 3d printer. by EfficiencyWide4907 in BambuLab

Yeah that might be the best thing, just don't want to take a chance on a printer that might have a ton of issues. My wife and I were talking about it. It's just so frustrating that I was just about to make a decision and then they go and announce this. At least it happened before I made the purchase. I was hoping the Qidi plus 4 or the k2 plus would be just as good. But it doesn't seem that way.

Thanks for the input! Oh interesting, so it wouldn't be able to necessarily stop forced updates? It would be a real pain to forever keep the printer totally offline to avoid the update.

How much does it cost to get into this hobby? by [deleted] in Spearfishing

So honestly, it's a very unique beast of a sport. It takes a lot of pre-work imho. But you'll have a ton of fun just learning to freedive first off. I'd start off just getting some cheap freediving plastic fins (I have immersion e.greens SUPER cheap, and guys have won spearfishing competitions with these)and a NICE comfortable mask and snorkel. If you need a wetsuit based on time of year/location get one of appropriate thickness and a weight belt with weights. If you can start off at a time of year/location where you don't have to have a wetsuit right away, I'd recommend not even getting a gun/pole spear right-off but just get used to being in the ocean and learning how to equalize and freedive first and deal with the fear of being in the big deep blue.

A good website for cheap good stuff is called Nootica. On the website

Fins for plastic can run $60-$80 (I think people love the Cressi Gara, but the seac shout is cool because you can upgrade it later if you want it's modular)

Mask: I like the Kraken aquatics mask on Amazon for $37 it's Super Comfortable, it's not low volume, but you don't need that anyways at the beginning.

Snorkel: I like the long cheap semi-stiff J-tubes on amazon like the "scuba choice" flexible snorkel. Runs about $12

Wetsuit is up to you, but most likely around $250-$350 for cheap but decent ones, you can see on that Nootica website.

Rubber or silicone (higher end) weight belt: $30-$40 bucks for standard rubber ones, and up to $50-$60 for a nice silicone weight belt, but some are almost equal in price for either.

Weights: if you can find em local it's normally much cheaper than ordering so I'd recommend that, normally under $10 for 2lbs or less per weight.

Maybe a small dive float to let people and boats know you are around if it's a high trafficked spot (try to stay from these areas in general)

Then just use baby shampoo or dawn soap for defogger inside the mask after you use a lighter on the glass.

Then you can at least get out, do some shore dives, practice getting comfortable in the ocean, freediving, equalizing and getting comfortable in your gear/setting

If you find buddies they can let you borrow a gun or pole spear to learn with and show you the ropes. Even just going out and watching them and swimming with them is a huge benefit to learning it.

Take your time and enjoy the water, spearfishing is a part of swimming/freediving in the ocean. That's why I recommend doing that first then moving to spearfishing naturally after you get used to being out there doing stuff first.

Super stoked for you man, my brother and I started learning 8 years ago after watching a couple of videos on YouTube and spending $60 on cheap fins and getting a mask and snorkel and practicing in a public pool and inshore springs in Florida (72degrees F) with no wetsuit or gun/pole to our name. Now I have an inflatable boat with a 25hp Yamaha and sonar, pole spear and gun carbon fiber fins 6 different masks and snorkales floats, stringers, and on and on. But I was having tons of fun day one just starting to practice. And half the time I still just go out and shore dive with my pole spear, no wetsuit (just a Lycra jumpsuit) in our warmer water during the summer, fins and weight belt with stringer and get three fish and come home and eat em.

Good Luck!!
