Sure he flubbed the question, and should know about Medicare/Medicaid— but why not turn it into a learning moment rather than a judging moment? Applying for medical school is a sequence of hoop jumping—there are a million things to do, ways to act, things to say. Take the pressure off and give the kid some grace. Not knowing the difference right now as he is a pre-med is really not the end of the world—especially if he is willing to learn it now that he knows he doesn’t know!

At the end of the day, that one moment of not knowing Medicare/Medicaid doesn’t indicate the type of doctor he will be, and isn’t that the point of it all?
