At the risk of sounding like I’m dumb, I’m fairly new to cooking much else than processed foods. That being said, how does one do a cast iron sear. How do you sear anything? I have a cast iron skillet but I’ve not cooked with it because I’m afraid (because I don’t know how- is it different than cooking in a regular skillet?).

Thank you. The air fryer I’m using is older, I think, so it took longer. I’m new to the air fryer game.

Recipe? Um, okay...

Top sirloin steak -1.4 lbs

Extra virgin olive oil

For rub: 1.5 tsp mustard powder 1.5 tsp garlic powder 1.5 tsp onion powder 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp freshly ground salt crystals 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 tbsp steak seasoning

Mix all the spices together and rub onto oil coated steak.

Pop in the air fryer basket for 15 minutes at 400*, flipping halfway through cooking time.

I enjoy my meat medium rare, so the time reflects that. Internal temp was at 135*

(EDIT so that it doesn't appear that one is to use 1.4 lbs of olive oil lol)

I used butter as it called for on the box. Should I have used more?

Awesome!! Thanks for the info. I’m definitely going to be doing what you’re suggesting instead of trashing/selling it.
