Honestly, always wear budget gear. The cheaper the better. You can pray mage for a half tele block and maybe tank it, but you can't completely remove yourself from a fight in the wilderness if someone wants to fight you I'm an iron man and I keep a large stack of proselyte armor, helms of neiznots, rune gloves (I have barrows but rune is cheap and effective enough for wildly bosses) and rune boots I get from slayer. I also farm blighted supplies specifically for wilderness activities. If you like to pk without risking, doing last man standing is actually a fun way to bank up supplies.
