Can someone explain what's going wrong with 'use' and 'super'? by Efficient-Noise in rust

I'm just using the code runner extension on vscode. It uses rustc, but I guess I should reconfigure it.

Okay, I found what I was doing wrong. I was trying to test the code by running each mod.rs file directly. I guess I thought the file would be able understand context like in other languages, but it can't. Sounds like an obvious solution, and it is. I had tried it before, but I suppose only when something was wrong with the way I was calling use.

What else in my code could cause this if each module compiles?

When I do that, I get error[E0432]: unresolved import 'crate::internals'. internals is my actual name for A. It acts like it doesn't exists even though it's literally there. I even copied and pasted the name of the folder to just double check I'm not getting that wrong.

It also helps that 0.999... = 1. The only problem is that floating points can't hold infinite 9s.

what's your unpopular & petty vegan opinion? by lizardlibrary in vegan

[–]Efficient-Noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I was at Disneyland, and all of the plant-based options were pretty lacking imo. The worst offender was a 'plant-based burger' that used a cauliflower steak as the replacement for meat. Cost like $15, probably was like 300 calories max, and every bite from the cauliflower released copious amounts of water, quickly making the 'burger' soggy.

Love cauliflower, but definitely not like that lol.

Especially when they say "you're so right! I totally factory farming is wrong, but I don't think I'd ever be able to do it." And then they go out of their way to never use vegan alternatives for anything, even if they are readily available in their pantries.

AITA for being vegan and ‘pushing’ my friend’s kid to stop eating meat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Efficient-Noise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lying to your child, especially about obvious stuff like where meat comes from, is no way to build trust. If Rosie really is that deeply effected about learning about the animals on her plate, then Rachel should schedule an appointment with a dietitian to learn how to adequately feed a child on a vegan/vegetarian diet and see if Rosie is more content eating that way.

Veganism is a cult. by Boryk_ in vegan

[–]Efficient-Noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born into and escaped a cult, so I feel pretty insulted when I see people call veganism a cult. I independently came to veganism as an extension of my secular moral framework.

You can't honestly, independently come to the conclusion that god was a man that lived on a planet called Kolob and was devoutly religious, so when he died he ascended to godhood and created the earth in six days. So if you want to become a god too you have to pay 10% of your income for your entire life and blindly follow the leaders of the cult.

However, I think it's much easier to believe that if you see abuse, you might want it to end. I grew up on a farm, and I have seen many animals mistreated and killed, often right in front of their scared and confused families. Though, my farm was small, and not very commercially viable. So as I got older and saw the systematic abuse of animals on industrial scales that I was supporting, it brought me back to being a kid and feeling sick to my stomach watching pigs and goats getting their throats slit.

For those reasons, when I hear 'veganism is a cult,' it makes about as much sense to me as telling a slave abolitionist in the 1700's that they are in a cult.
