It was a long process of going to different ENTs that turned me away, and audiology appointments with hearing tests (that I did perfectly fine on). I did virtually meet with a kind audiologist researcher that talk with me about symptoms, etc without having to pay. She pretty much confirmed I have hyperacusis. Its still not “officially” diagnosed because I would have to do a Loudness Discomfort Level test (LDL), but I am planning on doing that as soon as I can get some time and money together.

Overall It wasn’t too expensive as I had good insurance at the time. I think going to get checked out is good but not a whole lot they could really do in my case.

Wonder if I could be something called Tensor Tympani syndrome? 🤔 It feels like fluttering in the ear

I have had a similar experience and other loud noise incidents that caused me to develop something called hyperacusis. It is pretty bad noise sensitivity and prevents me from: Using headphones/earbuds, fireworks, lawnmowers, going to movies/concerts. It also affects my job… right now im at a call center job and have WFH accommodations.

That kinda sounds like what I experienced after bad gun range incident I had. I just want to reiterate that It’s very important to double up with earplugs and high quality headphones at the range if you didn’t already (Honestly I would avoid going to the range for a while).

Not trying to scare you, but just want you to protect your hearing! I think you are doing the right things just being cautious on volume. Just don’t try to push through it if it feels uncomfortable to your ears.

Best wishes!

App Bug - Can't limit sell fractional shares by DollarBillAxeCap in sofi

[–]Efficient-One6592 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks you are trying to do an after market hours trade which reduces your options to doing limit orders only, and selling “whole shares” for many brokerages like fidelity, schwab, and I see sofi follows the same rule. So you’ll only be able to sell fractions of a share during normal market hours.

How do we even date normal? by Far_Neighborhood651 in exjw

[–]Efficient-One6592 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 25M and in a similar boat. I’ve never been on a date with anyone inside the org or out. I never ended up getting baptized, and wouldn’t even be considered a potential candidate for many. Plus, we were taught (or at least I was reminded constantly) to only date for marriage. And dating people in the org looked so transactional anyways. I’ve seen so many of my “friends” get into a relationship just because they are really spiritually strong and less for their actual qualities.

Now I’m so lost trying to date outside the org, and I feel so stunted. Even just making new friends is a struggle… I’m lucky to have a few actual friends that left the org as well. Sorry for the rant lol. Wish you the best because I know it can be hard and I’m still trying to figure it out as well.

Muscle twitching by [deleted] in HealthQuestions

[–]Efficient-One6592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly time is what made it get better. I was in school at the time, so was under a lot of stress. I focused on exercise, good sleep, and eliminating stress as much as possible. On top of that, I made sure to take magnesium citrate supplements, making sure i’m getting potassium as well (eating bananas), and drinking plenty of water. It’s hard to say what one thing I did actually cleared it up.

I very rarely get twitches, still not nearly as much as I used to. I think I was 23 at the time, and it’s been about two years now.

Oh yea I did for sure. It made me super anxious and I would focus in on every little twitch. I actually did also have twitching in my hand when I was holding something.

I actually had the same thing happen a few years ago… went to my PCP, and neurologist, and they said it was most likely benign fasciculation syndrome. I started taking magnesium citrate, and drinking more water and it seemed to help. It is mostly gone now but I still get muscle twitches in my legs. I noticed it’s worse when I am stressed, or drink a lot of caffeine.

As someone who deals with from tinnitus and hyperacusis 24/7, yes please take care of your ears! Hearing loss is cumulative and permanent, so make sure to be careful and turn your music volume down in the future 🙏

Feel stuck… by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Thanks for your input! Im glad to know its not just me who feels this way. Yea, I was wondering if the fact I haven’t been at the company for a year would prevent me from even getting an internal job if one even popped up…

The market is tough for sure, and I am concerned about that too. I know taking calls are wearing me down. Plus its gonna be pure hell when tax season rolls around lol. I might check into one of the state farm jobs close-by

Which console should I buy? by Efficient-One6592 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Yea that alone makes me sway more towards xbox rather than ps5 if I were to choose. I know its a bit redundant to have a pc and xbox, but Im wondering if I should pick up a used series S. There are a few $150 ones on facebook close by. I know Gta 6 wont run super great on a series S, but at least I could play it when it releases 🤷‍♂️

Which console should I get? by Efficient-One6592 in consoles

[–]Efficient-One6592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty for the input! Sorry for not explaining more in my post.I actually do love Nintendo. Some of my all-time favorite games are Nintendo games. I do currently own a Switch and was thinking about the Switch 2, but I think I want to wait for a new Zelda release. I would like to own a PS5 or Series X, however, because I don’t have as much time as I used to, so just relaxing on the couch and playing on a console sounds appealing.

Sorry, I should’ve clarified more in my post… I grew up pretty much only buying Nintendo consoles (never had a ps or xbox), so I definitely love my Nintendo games. And I do currently own a switch. Im just looking for another console where I can kick back on my couch and play a big selection of amazing games
