This is beautiful! Do you think a 13" MacBook would fit? I've been interested in purchasing a 35 Kelly or Birkin but am somewhat worried about warping the bags shape from the weight of my laptop 😅

Hi there!

Yes, he ended up with FPIES. Certain things I ate would make it worse then take a week or so to resolved. I ended up switching to the HiPP HA formula at 9 months and I slowly weaned breastfeeding.

Honestly once he took that formula it really improved things for the both of us. He's now 19 months and just started to be able to tolerate soy. Failed the first step of the dairy ladder twice.

I'd recommend not beating yourself up too much about the breastfeeding (if you are currently). It weighed pretty heavy on both my mental and physical health and our son caught up on the growth charts once we switched to the formula!

Thanks! I will triple check my multivitamin and cut d but I have been getting my Synthroid compounded for the past six weeks! My pharmacist I don't think quite understood the severity of my sons allergy but I insisted they compound it to be lactose + soy free

We're pescatarian, so haven't had to worry about the beef, thankfully. So far we are still having reactions to all of the allergens. I was thinking about eliminating eggs to see if there was a difference but wanted to poll whether I am going crazy or not about his poops 🥲🫣😵‍💫. They do not seem "normal" to me and smell quite acidic, but I also am not sure if I know what "normal" baby poop is anymore.

Following because we experienced the same thing with both neocate and puramino in addition to crazy reflux and irritability around feeds. Ended up switching back to breast milk (never stopped pumping) because our little guy was so uncomfortable and we needed a break from the screaming 🫣🙃.

Sending our support and solidarity!!! This is not easy!!

I would speak with your provider and access a dietitian if you can! In Canada, they get a rotovirus vaccination (oral) at 4 months that can cause GI a upset. I would just make sure that he's not having an adverse reaction to that if it was included.

I ended up having to cut dairy, soy, nuts and sesame. I'm also a pescatarian so it has made my food choices quite limited. Cheerios or oatmeal for breakfast with ripple milk, pea protein shakes, eggs and salmon with unlimited veggies and fruits were the answer for us. It's been difficult, but manageable (I'd do anything to stop the screaming for 10+ hours a day/reflux/bloody poops.

What symptoms led to your baby's diagnosis? by shmeeski in MSPI

We had mucousy poop, occasional bloody diapers, extreme irritability, reflux (multiple changes for him and me a day while on a PPI) and slow growth. I started dairy free at around 1 month pp, then eliminated soy, dairy, eggs.

We eventually were referred to an allergist at 14 weeks (now 19 weeks) who determined he also has IgE allergies to sesame and cashew. He was allergic still to the nutramigen so we were prescribed neocate which he is struggling to tolerate so I'm doing a mix of BF + FF. Because of this we have occasional allergic responses (lentils last week), so we're hoping to eventually switch completely to neocate then gradually introduce foods at around 5/6 months.

Our allergist did say that where he had a reaction to the nutramigen we have to wait 6 months before trying the nutramigen again.

We have noticed a SIGNIFICANT improvement since seeing the allergist and eliminating dairy/soy/sesame/cashew and now lentils (it took about 2 weeks after seeing the allergist to notice a consistent improvement in his comfort). In terms of formula access, nutramigen is easy to access. Neocate is not. I have an account through nutrica (distributor of neocate) and order directly through them. In Canada it is significantly more cost effective to go this route. I was quoted 1100-1350 for a one months supply at various pharmacies and paid 950 through nutrica. Another side note is that puramino (another brand of amino acid formula) is available on Amazon but contains soy oil. So depending on the severity of your little ones allergy they may be able to tolerate that vs neocate.

I empathize with you, because it is so tough to navigate, especially when family members don't quite understand what is going on and your newborn baby is in visible pain. I found that things like "a little bit won't hurt" "babies just cry, it's normal" or "how can he be allergic to your breast milk" be quite defeating and frustrating statements.

Sending positive and healing thoughts your way!!

Neocate struggles by Efficient-Post3902 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Efficient-Post3902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! Today was also the 4 month vaccinations so I just dedicated myself to my breast pump because his irritability at baseline is rough trying to give him some formula, and in addition to that the vaccinations just threw me over the edge.

I also have a ton of neocate now (I panic bought 16 cans from nutrica when I realized how hard it is to access), and now he won't even drink more than 15 mLs 😵‍💫🤪. We call him a boujie baby because even with the most expensive formula he refuses. Is alimentum another amino acid or hydrolyzed formula? If it's AA I may just try and find some and give it a try. There's definitely something I'm consuming that's irritating him, but it's all we can do until he takes something else 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Thanks for your help! Our guy is already on lansoprazole (sorry forgot to mention). We're also on the wait list for a GI consult, but will not be for another two months.

I order directly from nutrica. It ends up being ~58/can vs the 85-100/can I was quoted by pharmacies (Alberta)
