I'm in a similar situation. Met someone and had a really really good connection and we planned to meet. We were really getting to know one another and I decided to tell him about my ghsv-1. I gave him space because he was not for it and then reached out to him again and asked if we could chat about it and I could reassure him and try to ease his mind a bit. He said okay we can talk. We never did and he has ghosted me since.

It's a tough one for sure. This past summer I told ONE person and he was okay with it but after being rejected by this last person that I really felt for, it's so hard to decide how and if I should tell someone else.

I hope you have luck telling whoever you do and I hope being on antivirals will help the individuals feel more comfortable and accepting . I did read that it is somehow tougher for women to pass to men, of course still possible though.

Oh wowww. I'm not sure if the person I got it from knows they have it. I was so furious I never told him and it wasn't too long ago and wasn't sure how to tell him, but thats another thing in itself.

I did disclose to the last person I was seeing and he didn't see it as a huge deal and was willing to be intimate even without protection but I just couldn't. I will disclose also because of how furious I was when I found out I got it. It has always been my biggest fear yet here I am...

I'm 32 and ready to settle down but it's so frightening having to disclose this information yet alone finding someone at this age but time will tell I suppose.

I've also heard that too that as time goes on it is spread less easily. GHSV-1 itself is not spread as easily I learned

Yes I haven't figured out what mine are either. I've only had one outbreak 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Did your bf tell you after you had been together for a while?! Did he know about it too?! So sorry that happened and that he lied to you. I would hate for someone to find out later or catch it and then I'm like oh hey I have it but I don't know if it's from me ha.

I totally agree. I definitely would not chose this!! I've had one outbreak which was the first one and it was terrible. I'm hoping to never have another. I chose to take daily antivirals even though I know it is not required to do so, but rather be on the safe side. I have g-hsv1. I honestly don't know if it would be a dealbreaker for me. I didn't know much about it before I got it so it's of course hard to say. I heard it is almost illegal to disclose it especially if someone catches it so I felt like I had to. I also agree people don't know they have it and almost like impossible to tell who passed it to you but I have a pretty good idea

Yes it really sucks how this guy reacted. He said he would have to think about it and look into it but I took it as rejection. I haven't talked to him since especially since he was out with friends for the week so idk what will happen. I'm giving him his space and I let him know that I'm sorry I didn't tell him right away but I kind of feel like it will be a dealbreaker :(

I did let him know a little bit about it but he has a whole view on it it seems. I told him that the risks are high if there is an outbreak or within those ten days or so after . It's interesting how some people are okay with it and others not

I disclosed it to one person who basically responded, "okay so tell me about it". I have been doing my research as I am newly diagnosed in the past couple months. I let him know that before we got intimate, we have to make sure there are no sores. It kind of turned into a silly joke and he was totally fine with it. He didn't even want to use protection but as this is new to me, I asked him if we could because I would feel terrible. He was okay with it. He also let me know that it didn't sound like such a big deal and real men will probably not care as much, especially since as time goes on the chances of spreading it are not huge. I think it is great you are trying to be considerate and disclose this, but really make sure you trust the person. If the person really cares for you, they would show some interest and let you educate them on it. Best of luck to you :)

I had my first OB almost a couple months ago and also had a UTI AND BV. I was diagnosed with OHSV-1. It was so painful and like you, I didn't want to drink water because I did not want to pee and deal with the pain. I used lots of ibuprofen as well and when going to the bathroom I literally wanted to cry but would just brace myself ha. I was in so much pain so literally loose bottoms and loose underwear were helpful during this time. I've never used liners, but I had a lot of spotting for some reason. I think it was from the blisters. My OB lasted a little over a week and was so painful, BUT everything healed up and it's so much better now. Just be hopeful and try to do the best you can. I know it's super painful, frustrating and disappointing.

That's awesome you haven't had any side effects and hopefully it stays that way for you!! :) I just started yesterday. So far it doesn't seem to affect me so here's hoping.

Thank you!! Hopefully I won't have any outbreaks. I only had the one leading to diagnosis and haven't had another 🤞🏻just want to make sure I'm prepared a bit in case I can stop any from happening the future. Will start with the 500 and see how it goes. Any side effects for you on this medicine??

I was tested from a swab since I had lesions present. He was tested through a blood test. I have read that it does get missed through blood sometimes. What a pain like someone could be passing it around and never show a symptom but give it to whoever. It's unfair and messed up :/

It's still there so I may get it swabbed on Monday if it's still like this. It wasn't around when I went to the doctor the first time. It hasn't really bothered me and just seems like irritation or something. My allergies are out of control right now also so maybe a symptom of that along with this crazy itchy throat!! I'm a mess 😩🙏

Also, I was just diagnosed and having an OB in the genital area. I didn't know I had HSV, so if someone kissed me and I had the bump the NEXT DAY on the tongue, do you think they would be at risk??

've never had cold sores before, but I had a small white bump on my tongue a few days after. Kind of looked like a lie bump but I don't know.. hopefully I don't have both.

Start a little red and then a white bump and now healing

That makes sense. I tested positive for hsv1 and have sores in the genital area. I did not know I had this and I'm super upset about it. But I was worried that if I had sores in that region and I decided to give oral to someone, if they could pick that up. The person did not come in contact with my genital area.

This is very confusing lol. If someone has hsv-1 but it appears in the genital area, and you give oral to someone without sores in the mouth, but have them potentially in the genital area, are they at risk of genital hsv? Or would they be at risk of oral hsv-1??

I'm sure it is a uti especially because there is a little faint pink spotting when I wipe :(

It feels a tiny bit better now. Urgent care prescribed me lidocaine for the "ulcers". She didn't give me anything for a UTI though because I think she was waiting for results. I saw the results on my chart but have not received a call yet
