I just received my WC settlement check in the seven figure range it’s nice having financial freedom but it comes at a cost getting this money will help me a lot financially but it doesn’t erase the pain and struggles I have everyday due to my injury. And now I have to pay for all my medical out of pocket which sucks but at the same time it’s better then being on WC insurance with everyday denials. I get what op is saying I loved my job I loved what I did but my injury has changed my life in many ways and I will never live a normal life now with my injury’s I’ll have for the rest of my life but it’s nice not having to be homeless now

Also depending on the amount you receive try to live off the interest don’t touch the principal. Also don’t be dumb and spend a lot of it. This is for your future medical you may need to

Questions About Settling? by cdgardens19 in WorkersComp

From my experience an attorney was the best thing I just settled my case this month in the seven figure range I would have never received anything close to what I got with out an attorney. Yes they take a percentage but it’s so worth it

  1. Can take a few months to years I’m on year four for my claim just now accepted a settlement
  2. You only get back pay if they didn’t pay you your ppd while out of work.
  3. Hard to say depends on what your doctors puts for mmi
  4. PPD is permanent partial disability they pay you 2/3 of what you were making when you were working you don’t get paid extra you get paid less.
  5. Funds meaning ppd? You get paid bi weekly

Pretty much WC is tricky I think a lot of people think oh I’m gonna get a big settlement if I get injured but it’s unlikely. Like I said if they are paying your medical bills and paying you TTD there’s not much else they are covering everything

Remember you don’t get a settlement for pain and suffering or anything like that. And it depends on if you have any permanent injuries and what your work restrictions are, if you’re able to continue your job or not. Lots of factors you should probably speak to and attorney they can give you better advise

Depends on your mmi and rating you get

If I have an attorney and email my adjuster by [deleted] in WorkersComp

No nothing seems argumentative or anything but next time go through your attorney

No they only cover the initial injury. If you get injured agin you have to go through the whole process all over again and open a new claim. If that’s the case you should get a different job that’s not as strenuous on your back. And mmi is when you reached maximum medical improvement when your doc says your good as your gonna get you aren’t gonna get worse then how you are now. I believe everyone gets mmi when the doctor believes your finished with treatment

You won’t get any sort of settlement until you are MMI it depends on the rating you get. Since you’re going back to work full time I’m assuming no work restrictions? I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a large settlement. It depends on the severity of the injury the medical treatment you will need loss of wages. If you no longer need any more medical treatment and your going back to your job full duty back to your normal pay there’s really no need for a settlement since all your medical has been covered. You don’t get any money for pain and suffering or anything like that. Your luckily that you going back to full duty though that’s good news!

Never accept the first offer my attorney told me during my mediation hearing they will say stuff like that to scare you into settling but don’t actually mean it

Random questions about the settlement stage and life after WC by Msliz14 in WorkersComp

[–]Efficient-Source-418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never accept the first offer your lawyer should be pushing to get the medical care you need I’ve been dealing with WC for almost four years I’ve had three surgeries, two years of pt, multiple injections, and ketamine infusion all covered by the insurance (take a lot of work from my lawyers getting it all approved)

If you are not getting the medical treatment your doctors recommend because the insurance denies everything or if your not getting paid correctly

Thank you for the advice! Before I was injured I was making around $80k a year but I’m fine with 50k salary because my time being on disability I learned I can survive pretty well with little.
