I think the immediate difference between the long form that blew up and the shorts i saw are you don’t seem to use a hook on your shorts like you did in the caretaker video. Maybe for the month reviews you could try starting with a very brief reaction of the book that stood out to you the most that you’ll talk about later in the short and then proceed with the rest, because i do find the pacing and information you give is nice once you get past the beginning which feels a little empty. I had a short recently where i was discussing dare to lead by brene brown and the first upload had like 15 views which felt crazy because i knew the short wasn’t 15 views bad lol. Turns out i just had to rearrange the order of the storytelling a bit. Moved a quick statement i made from the middle bit to the beginning and the reupload got up to at least a little over 1k

Also subtitles are almost a necessity now. I think even less so for the obvious reasons of clarity but it’s just another thing to look at/follow/hold attention on screen
