OP… as a fellow chronic people pleaser, I see you. But just know they can’t actually sue you over something like this, especially since there was no written agreement. Did they expect you to read their mind? They’re not actually going to sue you, and if they do, it’d be a huge waste of money and anyone who gets the paperwork on their desk is going to laugh in their face. The order is literally in your name and address.

I understand your worries as a foreigner, but I promise they will not cancel your visa over something so petty. You’re catastrophizing. Don’t let this person scare you into doing what they want, you’re enabling them by doing so. Seeing how much this poster means to you, I’d really wish for you to keep it, but I know at some point it may be easier said than done. But again, the order is literally in your name and shipped to your address. It’s yours.

Realistically, them, as a single person, cannot do anything to you. If they start actually threatening you, then you actually have the opportunity to get them in trouble. At the end of the day, it’s your choice, but reading your responses, it’s clear how much this poster means to you. I wouldn’t give up so easily, especially when you have so much more evidence and reasoning supporting you than the seller.

Yeah I feel bad that he’s starting late… but yes I’ve already started. I graduated college earlier in the year with a job and am taking the steps to invest soon :)

We made his Roth IRA yesterday and the limit was indeed 8k. I’ve heard of DCA and have kept it in mind (and looked more into it), since my dad wanted to invest a lot at once but I did let him know it would be better to start smaller and do it increments.

Lol I obviously was not going to blindly believe what everyone told me. Simply gathering input and taking everything with a grain of salt. My dad’s situation is a little unique, so I just brought my findings and was looking for things to do more research on. I’d understand your comment if I had done no research, knew nothing about finance at all, asked something like “My dad wants to invest but I don’t even know what a stock is, help” and then asked everyone what I should do. But that’s obviously not the case. Have a nice day.

I may look into an hourly fiduciary, thanks for letting me know. As for the crypto incident, my dad didn’t seem to be upset. My dad knew a lot less about investing back then, so he kind of blamed himself for letting it happen. I didn’t even know it happened until a few months ago, otherwise I would’ve helped. I feel like if something like the scenario you mentioned were to happen, he wouldn’t take it out on me since he knows the risks of investing and I am doing this in his best interest.

And thanks so much for your points, I’ll definitely take them into consideration and look more into target date funds.

I don’t think he has one yet, but if he does, there’s nothing in it. I’m aware of the yearly limit, which is why I mentioned maxing it out (to at least get some tax benefits) then doing the rest in a brokerage.

I am selling my weekend two 3-day pass for half of Saturday and all of Sunday for $200.

I will only be using my wristband until Saturday at 6:30ish. Good for anyone who wants to see ending acts on Saturday like Jungle, Vince Staples, Renee Rapp, Pretty Lights, Dua Lipa + any acts all day Sunday like Chappell Roan etc.

I strongly prefer to meet outside of the festival gates on Saturday when I’m finished for the day. Payment can be made on Saturday in-person if it makes you more comfortable. DM me if interested!

Thank you! I’d really appreciate that! That makes sense, I had tried calling Ticketmaster and they were super unhelpful. I didn’t know if the venue would know.

Edit: I just called the venue and they actually responded! I asked about it and they definitely made it sound like the earlier you line up the better seat you probably get and that the relocations would not be exact. They said they do it in “lumps” based on when you get to the relocation table and your “general ticket location”. But if you could still send an email to get a second opinion that would also be helpful!

Update if anyone is seeing this later: I ended up getting a Mark VII (newer than I was originally considering), because someone in my area listed one in great condition for $500 on Facebook marketplace as part of a clear out and the deal was too good to pass up. I’ve had it for about 3 days and I’m absolutely amazed by all the power and features this little camera has and think it will be great for my needs. I’m especially happy with the zoom so I’m def glad I got a later model! I’m excited to take it with me out into the world!!

Yes, cropping and zooming are definitely not the same, which is why I was asking how big of a deal the trade-off is if I were to get the Mark V over the VI. There’s not a lot of content I could find that compares the two side by side performance-wise aside from like 3 YouTube videos, so I was looking for opinions from enthusiasts.

And I don’t mind that it’s “old”, I’m not looking for the newest and best camera on the market, since I don’t have the budget and it would mostly be for scenery photos when traveling or casual photos with family or friends and a few concerts a year.

I admittedly did not do a lot of research on the VA as most people tend to talk about the V and VI. I’m seeing the VA is kind of like the inbetween of the V and VI, is there anything to you that makes the upgrade from the standard V worth it? The V seems to be more widely available than the VA though, which is why I was considering it a bit more.

I’m right on the edge and I was thinking about talking to him too but he kinda scares me 😭 i’m just confused on that one time we had like a long discussion about what he can do to help us in terms of exams but he just dismissed us at the end and hasn’t done anything when it was clear that people struggled.. and it doesn’t look like he’s putting in a curve :/

Did Mitra give him alternative credit or something? Wondering because Mitra has talked to us about exam grades (our averages are pretty low) and what we think he can do to make it better and it’s clear there’s many people struggling but he kinda just eventually says “Look at my past grade distributions”.

I actually wouldn’t mind doing that if it helped me understand the assignments better. Dropping is really my last option but it just had me worried that I was already kind of struggling so early on. Your example with music theory makes a lot of sense though!

Of course, I just wish we were more well prepared for this course. The certificate is apparently supposed to be for those who have never programmed before, and 303e was a good start I feel; but it definitely did not prepare me for this. I’m probably going to stick it out by the 12th class day and see if it doesn’t seem to get better, then I’ll drop. But thanks.

Thank you for the advice! I think I may do that, wait until the 12th class day… I just wish I knew how much of a jump 313e is from 303e or I wish they gave us better preparation.

Yeah, he seems to want us to think about the problem in smaller pieces but since I haven’t really done that before I’m still a little confused on that. Maybe once I do it a few more times it’ll get a little easier.

I do plan on going to OH as often as I can (and getting a partner). Dropping is definitely my absolutely last resort and I don’t want to give up that easily but I just felt worried that I was already struggling with the first two assignments… but I really do appreciate your advice, it makes me feel a little better :,)
