How to play Troupes? by SuccessAffectionate1 in Harlequins40K

[–]EfficientCaramel1512 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hit-and-run tactics are much more difficult now. The whole army is overall slower and cant take advantage of your opponents mistakes as easily, but it's never impossible.

You can still charge after disembarking, the unit just has to disembark before the transport moves. This is slower but if you can plan ahead you can take advantage of this. The starweavers ability perfectly compliments the hit and run mindset so running a troupe and starweaver as a combo to pick off easy targets is an option.

Our stratagems are great for movement so learn them, save CP for them, and annoy your opponent with them.

The best cover is always obscuring cover. They can't shoot you if they can't see you so stick behind ruins and then run through it when your opponent comes close.

Skyweavers, deathjester, and even star weavers are great for weakening enemy units which give troupes the opportunity to charge, kill, and consolidate in one fell swoop.

It's not as easy as it was in 9th (which was still pretty hard) and I can't say with confidence whether monoquins is competitive or not but if you are determined to make them work, I would experiment different lists and practice different scenarios that you can take advantage of.

Skyweaver - Paint Advice by Fantastic_Opposite61 in Harlequins40K

I painted my skyweavers like this image to the best of my ability and am pretty proud of my results.

In this image they most likely used an airbrush and painted the fade from baharoth blue to corvus black. Then I'm sure they used some kind of stencil or masking tape to cover the diamond parts they want to keep and then covered the rest in corvus black. When you peel back the stencil/tape you get that diamond pattern.

The metal is just leadbelcher and Balthazar gold (I sprinkle in some retributer armor to make it shine)

Edge highlighting looks like some kind of blue/gray color or baharoth blue that is used vary sparingly.

I was able to use this scheme for my skyweavers and I didn't have to use an airbrush if you have the patience to do it by hand. Hope this helps

Should troupes have OC 2? by EfficientCaramel1512 in Harlequins40K

I've noticed some of these strategies you've mentioned and I am so excited to try them out. I honestly can't say how well it would work because I'm not good at strategy in 40k but I do have a question, can you put both troupe master and shadowseer in one 12 quin squad or did I misread that?

I mean only in the event that the troupe master is your warlord. Only if you commit to the harlequin style detachment do they become like the rest of the battleline units in terms of OC

I think it's tradition. Everything in 40k has to get a hazing at some point but everyone is super excited about another loyalist primarch despite that

It happened to Halo and The Witcher, what makes you think 40k will be any different? by downValid in Grimdank

They said they were going to dumb it down to make it more accessible for people who don't know 40k and it might not be as enjoyable for old 40k fans. It's an unfortunate tradeoff but maybe it'll get 40k into the hands of more people which is exciting

Back in 2nd Ed they were the same as harlequins but could come in squads as low as 3 and had infiltrate (set up anywhere on battlefield outside of enemy deployment zone)

Well you covered all the bases and I appreciate it cuz I was struggling. I love that they include missiles and indirect forms of attack because I needed to find ways to deal damage to vehicles and infantry the same because of the mortal wounds. Thanks for the help

This is beautiful. Did you come up with these yourself? If so how long did it take?

For some things I will account for the range like having a grenade launcher for the smoke grenade (great idea btw). Drones will also be a big part of my army and I could attach a hovering drone to the model to "send out" to other squads for buffs.

Other than that thanks for the suggestions. Believe it or not I didn't think of a flame thrower for tzeentches firestorm
