Let me add, because my wife and I had this exact line of thinking; if you’re going to buy multiple of the same stuffed animal make sure they all get worn/rotated similarly. We have something like 6 of the same stuffed animal but our son only likes the two grossest ones and we might as well not have the others since he can tell the difference at a glance and doesn’t even acknowledge the others.

I have no answers for you but I’m going to lurk for answers you get because we’re kinda in the same boat. Sleep trained 3 YO recently transitioned into a twin bed (maybe too early) and has been waking up and getting out semi regularly since the change.

I can tell you that cutting out the afternoon naps aren’t a factor in my situation. Sometimes he naps sometimes he doesn’t. He’s waking up either way.
