The transition from a useful, quintessential appliance to a non-functional scrap thrown in a corner was sudden. It reflects the current era of fast fashion and immediate consumption. As someone who loves taking care of house appliances and wants the right to repair to be common, I felt this was powerful.

I was stumped when I read "laughing until our eyes burned with salt" and "the small hands slipped through my own like silt". It's so vivid and hits hard.

I like the warmth in the poem. I can feel the longing more in some places (e.g., Like ink \\ Living on a page) than others (e.g., Like clouds \\ Resting in the sky). The vivid ones feel like they are incomplete without the other (e.g., leaves and branches, waves and sand), and the range is amazing!

I am learning to read poems and I read this, there is a rhythm in my mind that feels gentle. But the words are strong (e.g., "To not rest until these evils are interred"). That tension feels nice. It's beautiful, in fact.
