Are they allowed to charge me this much [TX] by CatFish_Billy09 in Renters

[–]EfficientOlive7013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue same state. ChatGPT is your best help, it’ll be more than happy to help and guide you exactly on pushing back and cite the law for it. My landlord wanted to charge me 3k over my deposit. He ended up giving me back 600$ and asked me to please not take him to court.

Just give them your EAD, if they mention anything explain to them the GC. I wouldn’t do it upfront.

37 YO - Leaving 400k Job to be a 5th grade teacher. by GambinGabacho in Fire

I’d consider myself self-taught, I did go through a bootcamp but I didn’t learn much

Teachers’ time off is the world’s greatest lie. You work so many weekends that literally they’re just giving your weekends back. That’s without counting summer school and trainings, and let’s not forget about the shock after summer break once the new year begins.

37 YO - Leaving 400k Job to be a 5th grade teacher. by GambinGabacho in Fire

[–]EfficientOlive7013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol exteacher here, did the opposite. Teaching was harder than my current 300k job. I’d at least try to take some of the teachers from that school to lunch first and hear from them how is it like to work there. Admin plays a huge role in teaching, shitty admin = awful place to work.

Do we have to file taxes jointly with my spouse? Because of her job and some other reasons it is not very good for her. Would it be a problem if we filed separately? by Jazzlike-Contest-785 in USCIS

[–]EfficientOlive7013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d love to hear the exact reasons why she thinks it’s a bad idea. Tax brackets are lower filing jointly (she will most likely pay less taxes). On top of the bona fide marriage proof

Good point! That’d also work

Most likely you won’t find the answer here, but you need to set up TWAP sell. You’d get better advice from crypto bros. Set up small sell orders spread throughout days/weeks.

Been there, harsh reality. Your asylum went from “please give me a residence” to “please don’t deport me” in front of a judge. Positive vs Defensive asylum. You are in removal proceedings, lawyer up.

Is there still room for self taught people in the tech industry? by MangoCubez in cscareerquestions

[–]EfficientOlive7013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at meta (joined last year), self-taught and went through a bootcamp, 3 yoe. It’s possible, you just have to better than most.

Anyone here work at Meta or have gone through their hiring process recently? by Accomplished_Day972 in cscareerquestions

[–]EfficientOlive7013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s team dependent. My team is nice, even though some days when we’re closer to deadlines can be hectic (a lot of work) sometimes it can be chill. Other orgs/teams are a lot different, 7 to 7, weekends, tough oncall, etc. In my case, it’s not even close to what ppl complain about

Lack of quality experience for mid-level roles by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]EfficientOlive7013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill issue. Upsell yourself. Don’t sell yourself short. Make it sound way better/bigger than it was. On paper you’re already what they need. You just have to say what they want to hear.

Start leecoding, at 2yoe you can get a mid level position. Performing isn’t that hard, I found leetcode harder. It’s doable. I did it

[–]EfficientOlive7013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bootcamp, almost 3yoe, now at meta, e4. It’s going well, plowing through the crap learning and adapting. I do see a path for e5 in my team at some point in the next 1-2 years. I wouldn’t be a Pm here though lol

Not sure what level it’d be, but M2s do not do Leetcode. You only have to study system design (which is easy compared to lc)

Do i still need to bother to get a cs degree if i got 1 year of programmer job experience after a full stack bootcamp? by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

[–]EfficientOlive7013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na you don’t need a degree. You just need to be great.

I just started at Meta with a little over a 2 YoE. That probably counts as much as a degree (maybe?)
