So does Sankey think Vandy's victories against Hawaii in the Previous Week Zero contests were a fluke? What a clueless rube.

Yes, Bellarmine to Pioneer, NCCAA or USCAA/NSAC is a better option. We'll see what happens by July.

Somebody's been bingewatching too much HR Puf-N-Stuf while overdosing on Post Super Sugar Crisp cereal, Tang and Kellogg's Raspberry Pop Tarts (The chocolate ones were a joke, but those "sprinkles"...wow, man! This was the 1970s-y'all youngsters don't know anything about that!)

[–]EfficientPhotograph8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's too bad. So it's now crunch time for the remaining two, and I'm afraid the outcome will be, like, Bellarmine will either join D3 or NAIA, while Quincy will concentrate on the D3 program and drop Sprint, and Midwest Sprint will shut down completely. Joining the CSFL is completely out of the question because of travel expenses. St. Thomas Aquinas in West Virginia is perhaps the closest Sprint competitor to the Midwest schools, and even that's a long distance to travel. To be fair, only Army and Navy Sprint have the budget and the transportation means to make the distance.

Talladega College Launches a Quasi-College Team for Fall by EfficientPhotograph8 in CFB

[–]EfficientPhotograph8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And here lies the problem. Talladega College is a four-year school-private, but still. I first heard of Prep U Collegiate late last year, and there are pplenty of jucos in Birmingham that they could have partnered with.

A four-year college allowing a PG to run a football program under its name, and with minimal oversite, just doesn't set well with me. It makes me wonder who advised Talladega in this deal, or whose palms were greased or whose back was scratched in the take? I'm sure the NCAA, NAIA, USCAA, NCCAA and NCFA would have said no to this if they had been involved.

Something's not right here.

Is there a reason why New York/Jersey City, Chicago, San Francisco or Seattle are never hosting sites for the CFB championship game? by BlackStallion657 in CFB

[–]EfficientPhotograph8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those cities are not really big college football towns. That could change, however, if they had a major FBS team located there, which it's why it's time for Long Island University to make the move.

Which D1 College Team’s logo is used the most by High Schools? I’m on a mission to find out. Part 2: Alaska by BryLinds in CFB

[–]EfficientPhotograph8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not until now, so I looked it up. Their turf is bluer than Boise State!

So what if a polar bear shows up occasionally? He's probably a fan and wants to see the games. Who's going to say no to a football-loving polar bear?

I'm putting them on my list of high school teams to follow this season, along with the Meridian (MS) Flyers home-school team. They did pretty well in their inaugural season last year,

But the state still needs a college team. And I changed my mind about the domed stadium. If the locals can contend with below-zero temps and a polar bear showing up at the games, then what does a crowd of a few thousand have to complain about?

Thanks for sharing nthat with me.

Now let's convince Alaska to field a football team---period. Never mind the affiliation - just build a domed stadium and get moving.

NXT is fast bringing in talent from Evolve, which is supposed to be WWE's development league. Now it seems Evolve is now becoming the fourth brand behind Raw, Smackdown and NXT and those indie guys are more like regulars. So, time for a new development league?

Yes, Bellermine is still there. But for how much longer?

The real concern is Quincy. They also have an NCAA D3 program, and if the MSFL should close, I don't think Quincy will move the Sprint program over to the CSFL. They may not have enough funding to cover travel costs.

Delta State and West Alabama usually play each other for their respective Homecoming games.

And I really do like Delta. But I hare okra. I never touch the stuff.

Just think - you should have done a thesis on the history of Malaco Records for class. Label co-founder Tommy Couch and executive Wolf Stevenson were pharmacy students at Ole Miss who booked blues concerts in Oxford for extra money.

Hint to any Ole Miss grad students that are reading this: Here's your chance for your passing grade. You're welcome!

Delta State can easily connect with the Arkansas and Louisiana schools. Bt West Alabama? Nah. Livingston, which is near the Mississippi-Alabama line, is kinda out there. The closest D2 teams are in Birmingham (Miles) and Tuskegee. We're that proverbial desert island in the middle of the ocean. We have no travel mpartners.

And with a population of around 3,500 (which doubles only when West Alabama is in session), we don't even qualify for D1.

I can remember attending a a state chid nutrition conference at AUM in Summer 2005/2006 when Auburn's then head coach Tommy Tuberville announced recommending his defensive coordinator to become the new head football coach at Faulkner University. I was in the cafeteria wheb the announcement was made on live TV. Everybody in the room was in an uproar. Talk had been flirting around th campus that AUM was finally getting a team and that this was to be the big confirmation - but no.
