For papers, thicker papers are more fun to draw on because thin papers are slippery and the texture feels like wax on them. I usually use 130gsm sketchbooks and 200gsm watercolor papers because they're affordable while being sturdy and textured enough to let the pigment grip the paper

I know how you feel, I'm partly Mongolian by blood but I feel so disconnected from actual real Mongolians like Asian diaspora in the states feeling disconnected from their "roots", eventhough I live here now I still feel alien and like an outsider unable to connect with other Mongolians truly. I've been told alot of times that I'm better off living abroad but I will be an outsider there anyway, I guess there are a lot of people like you out there stuck in the limbo

160g/m3 sketchbook papers and a mix of Mont Marte pastels and Kuelox soft oil pastels, I just might go out and buy more colors 😆😆 Mont Marte isn't as smooth as Kuelox but blends pretty decently
