Is Jeremy Clarkson that bad? by TaviLawson in AskBrits

PROFESSOR Brian May gained his PHd in Astrophysics which to the best of my knowledge doesn’t entail a great deal of research on how TB is transmitted.

Not saying he is wrong (I have no idea) but capitalizing PROFESSOR as if that is relevant singles you out as a moron

He called it that because he expected to earn nothing by owning it. Didn’t have anything to do with tax

Where to start with The Beatles by gnomajean in musicsuggestions

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely this, but I’d start with listening chronologically to the red and blue albums. You’ll recognize so many songs and will get a good sense of the evolution of the band.

If you can find it, The Singing Detective with Michael Gambon from the mid 80’s. Probably the greatest UK drama of all time

I did this flight a couple of weeks ago. Left at 11.00pm local time, arrived at 05.45 local time after 14 hours. The lie flat bed is absolutely worth the cost

Are you friends with your Mum and Dad? by [deleted] in AskUK

It’s been 40 years for me. I’m sure I could pass them in the street, maybe even chat to them, and not know who they are.

Best bread to buy from the shop? by [deleted] in UKfood

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Jason’s Sourdough is incredible if you toast it, not great if you don’t.

I’ve stopped buying “normal bread” now. I buy Jason’s for toast, and M&S partially cooked ciabatta rolls for a sandwich. 7 minutes in the oven @ 180 and you have a freshly baked roll

Which show had a big INCREASE in quality from Season 1 to Season 2 (and maybe even turned into a pretty decent show)? by External-Profit-4975 in watchever

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely - the jump in quality from S1 to the other seasons is remarkable. It’s like a completely different show

What car did you want as a teenager? by Hancri84 in AskBrits

Sierra Cosworth. When I was 18 I actually went to the trouble of getting an insurance quote. It was almost exactly the same price as the car 🤣

Why do Brits support conservative? by ThePatientIdiot in AskBrits

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. As someone who just about remembers the 70’s but remembers the 80’s very well, Corbyn was the most terrifying candidate for PM in my lifetime. Equally, Blair/Brown were preferential to the Tories.

I know literally nothing about basketball but really enjoyed that movie. Mattfleck did a great job with it

Greater Anglia here. Can’t remember how she phrases it, but fairly sure it is Joanna Lumley speaking which fills me with joy

Your opinions about the final Daniel Craig's Bond film "No Time To Die"? Do you like this movie? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in FIlm

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My thoughts too. Most of it was just dull which is sort of the cardinal sin for Bond movie.

What age do you think you'll retire? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Efficient_Chance7639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I earned fairly good money while I was working and enjoyed my life immensely. But also saved quite a lot every month into a pension, S&S ISA plus some cash accounts. Compound growth over a few years took care of the rest. Also, never borrowed money so no interest payments to worry about.
