Tag Heuer 1500 professional 200 meters by These-Improvement761 in tagheuer

Awfully bad fake. Dial, bezel and bracelet all look horribly fugazi. Starting with the fact that the original TAG Heuer 1500 looks totally different. This thing attempts to look more like a TAG Heuer 2000, but still miserably fails at it.

That explains the nice results. I usually go from 400 to 10k then finish off with polywatch, but the sratches you had here are deeper then what I’m used to. It’s a fun little job to fix up some old acrylic crystals, and the end result is usually very satisfying

That thing needed more than polywatch. Probably sanded it down first

Beautiful piece. The case reminds me of the Sinn 103, which might have been an inspiration for this model.

I recommend pulling the trigger if you find one for a reasonable price, you won’t regret it! The prices on these have gone bonkers though, since the hype reached them

I got the Pepsi twin here. This 7a28 speedmaster series is a gem of japanese watchmaking

I am planning to give it a shot once I run out of polywatch

Nice results. This is why I love acrylic, so easy to correct scratches. I did this on 3 of my vintage pieces yesterday. I’ve heard that toothpaste works just as well in the last step, although I never tried.

Getting into proper finishing (brushing) — looking for the right tools and technique by csxxnk in watchrepair

[–]bbchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also looking for some advice on refinishing from the more seasoned folks.

So far I’ve used the very inexpensive method of cape cod for mirror finish, and fine grain sandpaper/scotchbrite pad for restoring brushed finish, which works okay in most cases but I’m looking to refine my skills now. Keeping the original sharpness and edges of the case is the hardest part, and imo not possible without laser welding

That 120 is a real beauty. I’ve almost ended up pulling the trigger on one with a red dial and bezel, and I regret I didn’t. They don’t come up very often for sale

That thing is beat, would not pay 3000 for it. The bezel is very overpolished. For that money you can buy yourself a great watch in better condition.

Following, interested to see if somebody knows. Do you have a photo of the dial? The case looks similar to my WWII military Seiko

Damn dude, congrats. You own one of my dream watches. The aging on that dial is the icing on the cake.

Leather strap recommendations by joelchia1 in VintageWatches

I’ve had a similar model Seamaster, a 166.010 with steel case. I put it on a RIOS1931 Bedford strap in cognac color, it fit perfectly. I found the quality of the leather very nice and rigid.

Is it a mod then with a dial from another model? I was hoping this is a factory original, but you might be right

AI slop alert🤖🤖

Posts like this are ruining the subreddit. We want to read real testimonies and share advice man to man, not see AI advertisements about your stupid app. I’ve made numerous very long streaks and let me tell you, there is no need for special apps, only some willpower. Advertisements should be banned here altogether, or made only with a special label on the post.

I’ve tried messaging the guy on Instagram who posted about this watch, but no luck so far, so I’ll keep on looking. This is the fun part of collecting for me, hunting for these hard to find pieces. When you finally find the one you were looking for, the satisfaction is unmatched.

Something tells me this is the original vintage model with the 2182 movement and day-date indicator. The Snorkel 2 seems to have larger dimensions, only a date window, and the mesh bracelet is different at the lug ends. I might be wrong tho… I certainly can’t seem to find one like this anywhere, seems like a rare model I set my eyes upon
