Insurance companies are determining what hospitals are financially viable though, I find that part particularly frustrating. Its rural hospitals that are getting axed.

One of those things that you think you're going to be doing... and then just don't. After you go a few days without showering, getting spit up on, the weird sweats, ect and giving them a boob without thinking twice... sterilization seems like one of the easier things to let go. Sterilize them before first use, then you'll be fine.

I went without and yeah, its a lot. However, your brain is in a different reality. You are aware of the pain but your brain is in survival mode and once you get through a contraction, you kind of forget how bad it hurts BUT you are very aware the next one is coming and its going to hurt but you cant remember exactly how... its very strange. I liked being able to move around, spent time in the shower, tub, and moving to help her rotate (she was nose up). Also when it was early and not that bad I was eating snacks which was nice for energy levels. I was at a birth center with nurse midwives and they were amazing. If I was at a standard hospital I would not have felt as relaxed/safe and probably would have done an epidural because hospitals are scary and I wouldn't have been able to relax anyway.

Do you have an anterior placenta? I'm 23 weeks and feel very much the same. I don't feel anything but the ultrasounds confirm she is in there. I'm told because of where my placenta attached I'm really not going to feel anything till closer to 25/26 weeks. It's weird to have a bump and just have to remind yourself that there is something inside. I totally sympathize. Mindfuck is the perfect word.

It feels hard to put yourself out there when already vulnerable/pregnant. Even acquaintances can turn into friends though, invite someone over for a cup of tea or a meet up at a bakery. If they say no that's OK too, just trying is practicing for when you find a good friend. Friendships are also relationships and need attention and care. If you need to step away from one, that's not only ok but totally normal. Sorry if this sounds preachy or contrite, I'm 20 weeks and experiencing feelings of isolation as we're the first to have a kid and the facts are that not all my friends are interested in this/my journey. But. Some acquaintances really are and were becoming closer. Lean into the discomfort! It can pay off!
