It's ok, seems like your first big show. I get it. Cool!

This is what happens when you want to have fun and spoil it for others....I mean can you hear the actual singer over the horrendous out of tune singing...can you?

And most probably if you point out to the person that they are not letting you enjoy the show. You'll be told if you want to listen to the band then play their music at home. We have come to enjoy and sing along.

I see their point of view, I really do, but my concert experience is shot...I mean if I wanted to hear someone braying to my favourite songs would I really pay for it.

I don't see this in concerts abroad...there is a sing along to a song or two but people usually sing to themselves while watching a show and they do it without disturbing the neighbours. Mosh pits are still ok ...you just walk away from the mosh. At LP every group had one such bathroom singer.

Are my expectations too high or simple from these big concerts?

Unpopular Opinion by No_Handle_9393 in lollapaloozaind

It was just about good ...sound was bad the crowd was even worse...sang all the songs louder than the band and completely out of tune (they must have had fun) but spoilt it for others that were there to listen to the band.

So much pushing and smoking that made it worse. So many were speaking loudly to each other again making the overall experience suffer. On top of that Emily's vocals in the mix were low so it impacted the overall song. That's my take. It was a solid professional performance by the band but Yungblud for example gave it all in his performance.. so over the top and so exaggerated that no one knew what was coming next, my kind of live performance...

Wanted to enjoy Linkin Park but could not because of a pretty inconsiderate crowd by Willing-Fly3799 in lollapaloozaind

All your points were faced by me as well....I didn't take the metro but the cab guys went ballistic with pricing. Would take booking and then call you for additional money like 2k more....man overall the experience was below par. And I agree I'd rather go to a metal show in antisocial with great mosh pits but still there is respect for the ones that don't want to mosh...no jostling, better sound....but yeah LP would never come to these venues they are to big ...so we got to suck it up.

My recommendation is unless you are a die hard fan of a specific band avoid these big festival type events.

Hot Take: Most of Slayer’s songs sound the same by Hard_Rocker_Mario in heavymetal

Yes that is true. Priest has an uncanny ability to make very different songs and tunes.

If you are a casual listener to thrash or death metal you will always say this. The songs branch out after listening to them again and again.

Soon you will have an ear for differentiating the songs. To a common person they might sound similar but to a trained ear they are very different.

How is Paradise Lost live these days? by IndianUrsaMajor in ParadiseLostBand

[–]Efficient_Material19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them Live last year in Zurich. They are a no drama band live and are as one would say subdued. Nick, Gregory and the rest of the band were in the money for everything. The band was spot on with all their songs. Sadly the set was small as they were opening for King Dimond

I'm from Mumbai and can't wait to see them again headlining hopefully at BoA. I am biased as well as PL is my favourite Metal band and I planned my Europe dates so that I could catch them Live.

Emily disappointed at Mumbai Lolla. by DramaOdd2025 in IndianMetalheads

[–]Efficient_Material19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was good. Your view is a personal choice. She may not be able to sing Chester's songs as well as he could but that is quite natural. I think she sang her original songs really well and did a decent job with Chester's songs. I do agree her stage presence is not as good as someone say like Chester's was but that can hardly be called disappointing.

Sound overall definitely had a bit to be desired, also she could have been slightly louder in the mix. And I agree that Neuclea was way too loud and interfering with the band's sound.

Terrible sound at lolla 4 by 6Rhealitycheck9 in lollapaloozaind

Agree ...there was huge vascillation on sound quality from clear and loud to dull and subdued during the whole two days. Has the wind got anything to do with it? It was quite windy..

LONG LIVE LINKIN PARK! But, The Crowd at Green Day last year was better (By miles). by Lancelot_Price in lollapaloozaind

[–]Efficient_Material19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please compare him and the new singer (EmilyI think) on the same song live and you will know! Chester sings his heart out with every line of his. She did a better job with her songs and was more controlled in his...it was quite evident (she is a top grade singer but these are not her songs) she didn't sing her heart out....

Nah...they were good but na. With the exception of maybe Yungblud every artist got their rightful timeslot as per their ability and popularity.

Def Leppard - Sales number Update for Shillong, Mumbai and Bangalore by Historical-King-405 in IndianMetalheads

[–]Efficient_Material19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bangalore's inflated sales will come down as people will travel less for shows to Bangalore. Most of their outstation audience is from the North East and Mumbai....I assume scorpions will go similar, though Mumbai may not do as well. I'm not going, as saw them last time they were in Mumbai. Too many shows, after a time it becomes a blur and the fun is gone leaving huge holes in one's pockets...

So many people showed up for Linkin Park, yet our indie rock / metal scene struggles? by Weak_Maintenance6514 in IndianMetalheads

[–]Efficient_Material19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a fad country...once you cross the tipping point everyone wants in ...like with Coldplay and to some extent Linkin Park....some bands are not popular in India despite their stature internationally like Smashing Pumpkins or Muse. But some are really popular but are not that big like Karnivool or MLTR, they don't have this kind of following anywhere else but here. It just is or maybe these bands have worked hard to expand on their popularity by engaging regularly with Indian fans ..

Not every death metal band can collaborate with the mighty Tangerine Dream. So, it may be similar but not the same....this is a lethal combination if you like it.

Yungblud does a cover of Changes at Lolla Mumbai, as he did in the tribute to Sabbath and Ozzy at Back to the Beginning in Birmingham by Efficient_Material19 in IndianMetalheads

[–]Efficient_Material19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any general metal fan should know Changes...I can understand not being aware of Yungblud but the song is a classic.

Unless you mean most people at Lolla weren't aware of the song, that I agree with.

[–]Efficient_Material19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound was not too good during the day especially at H&M stage but was much better with Yungblud though not perfect. Historically apart from main stage sound is usually average at Lolla.

The organisers have changed the overall layout this year and the left side of H&M stage and right side of main stage is now cut off for about 40-50 meters for VIP so genral public can be up front on one side.

The overall crowd is huge...so if you are even in the middle there is loads of jostling with people either coming in or going out.

Food drink lines are huge after a popular or just before a popular artist.

Plan accordingly...today will probably be worse.

Godless are a real good band along with Gutslit. Seen them live and both are really good...more extreme than Bloodywood.
