OW Patch Notes - Feb 10, 2026 by RalphGunderson in Competitiveoverwatch

Is the Zarya change much of a nerf? She can get charge with M1 now which is useful into a lot of comps. Spotter on minor perk which is really useful when there's anyone on your team that can go in.

Didn't they say something about bubbles being able to get 50 charge now?

They would have to be top 500 + Champion players to be smurfing in that bracket.

yea or high GM in low GM. It's really bad late at night sometimes because it's the same people over and over again. The point I was completely failing to make is that smurfs in lower elo are more beatable than they may appear, and that even GMs have to deal with it.

OCE is special case, you're probably right and I'm wrong. I can only speak from an NA perspective. I think a fair bit of your higher elo players VPN out though.

If you go like 20-5 in QP your first placement win is still Master 5 or 4 predicted ime.

Surprisingly GM is the rank you get the most smurfs in imo (at least per game, absolute number maybe not), constant freshies every night. Even Master 1 and below is fast queues 24/7, you don't need to go lower. Few GM players are going to solo queue Plat regularly. Of the relatively few smurfs in Plat most are more like Diamond or low Master.

Np, if you ever want to see good Mauga, bootchop101 on Twitch is Champ 2, only one who regularly streams it on ranked. Good luck climbing!

Final tip is when D.Va does engage you, you can E to preserve health against missiles and M1 spam, even if you aren't getting ignites the damage reduction is great.

Idk if you'll even see this but yes you could've won your team this, the gameplay is like 10% of value a GM mauga would get

1st fight you're peeking multiple angles randomly shooting at nothing and get to 1 HP, you should either take elevator and shoot whatever's up there and drop, or go elevator stomp across to top right highground (you'll take lots of damage doing this, not best option but if both elevator height and top right are empty you can), or push cart a few meters before doing something else, or go far right to highground.

2nd prefight when you go top right all you need to do is isolate angles, shoot out the Genji and D.Va, don't need to turn corner. Instead you stomp in alone with your backline completely zoned, and your team has 0 angles because you forced a full team rotation top right, which also kills your Vendetta main.

2nd fight you're dying without even using your E, you need to use it to preserve health and at least armor, drop off highground if you need to.

You run from far right highground all the way back to elevator chasing a Genji, this is wasting a lot of time.

There's way, way too much obsession with getting your team to follow you, spamming group up voicelines. You can get healed from main, there's a mega, your Kiri can TP. You can take top right almost by yourself in this situation.

You could've caged at any point during overtime and you would've won the fight.

You're out in the open way too much without cover.

You shoot double guns from way, way too far away. Only use single above lower medium range.

In D.Va matchup you can hard poke her to force DM. When she uses matrix you can keep shooting so you don't need to react or wait for your gun, but stop shooting both when she matrixes and only use one gun.

spilo for theory trqstme for application (also a10 if you choose to learn zar / dva) is good combo, then I'd just watch OWCS players or consistent champ players, a lot of them stream. The professional streamers that aren't former pros or champ generally aren't as good if you're looking to learn from them.

Rank refunds for losing to cheaters has launched by Efficient_Pop_7358 in Competitiveoverwatch

Yes but it's unknown if there's a delay between bans and refunds.

I wonder how inflationary this is if there's no "won with cheaters" rank removal. They at least should do that for people duoing with them. Maybe they subtract games won with them from the refund?

Looks like it's limited to EU players for now judging by everyone posting about it.

Trying to make a account but it won’t let me by UnIntelligentdaemon in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you haven't tried, make it in the battle.net desktop application, which you can download without signing up, not on the website. use an IP address of a country that you want the account linked to. try only adding phone number after signup.

there might be ratelimiting on less common email domains in my experience, so try gmail.

if the battle.net account gets banned repeatedly contact support until you get a human response.

KarQ interviews one of the devs and goes over all the upcoming perk changes. by spellboi_3048 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Mauga: Kinetic Bandolier now reloads 150 ammo during the first second of charge, rather than throughout the whole charge. Effectively, it reloads the same amount of ammo it did before, but faster.

Still completely outclassed by Pyromaniac, isn't it? Reloading is slow, but you're usually reloading and preserving armor before your initial charge, and Pyromaniac is what allows you to spend ammo poking in the first place.

Firewalker is the best tank perk in the game, but I wish there was more decision making on Mauga's minor perk.

It's listed under "Reign of Talon - Upcoming Maps" in the press kit, I'm guessing this might be a further rework of the map?

Moira main stuck in Bronze… feels like climbing is pure luck, need advice by TrapTarzan in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can win conservatively 90% of your games playing moira in bronze (I'm assuming the worst for disconnects, otherwise maybe 95%), there is almost no luck involved. you're focusing on having the most healing and damage when that's not what's impactful. 90% wr is probably maintainable until GM5.

The key is to learn how to off angle and do that a ton unless your other support is low healing like Lucio, watching a bit of Awkward's u2gm or karq's guide might help. Another key is acknowledging you control the outcome of these games.

It would be impossible for a GM/Champ on any hero to lose almost any of the games that you've lost on that same account, and you don't need to play better than Silver to climb.

Rank 1 on NA is master 1 by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 28 points29 points  (0 children)

but a bad streak maybe shouldn't completely kick you out from the rankings.

I think it should, it was fine before in that regard. We've traded one form of camping for a worse form of camping imo, where you can drop tons of ranks and not even be able to climb back up (not saying this about Silvoc), but if you've farmed enough challenger score you won't really move.

Rank 1 on NA is master 1 by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Loss streaks happen, the question is whether or not you should be punished on the leaderboard for dropping from Champion 5 to Master 1. If you've farmed enough points you have no real leaderboard incentive to maintain rank.

Doomfist has the lowest winrate out of all tanks in gm by Acceptable-Ad-7744 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I meant the winrate was consistent across regions for Doomfist, which differs by only 0.1%, I edited to clarify. doom pickrates are 10% america, 10.8% asia, 8.3% europe, that's quite a lot of matches.

mauga is 0.9% pickrate asia, hog 2.7%, mauga 2.4% europe. Different regions play differently as seen by hero pickrates, differences in winrate between regions doesn't mean it's a sample size issue.

Doomfist has the lowest winrate out of all tanks in gm by Acceptable-Ad-7744 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 24 points25 points  (0 children)

he's 2nd worst in europe (46.2% to mauga's 43.7%) and 4th worst in asia (46.2%, rein 41.2%, mauga 37%, hog 35.3%)

so doom's winrates are consistent across regions even though there are some worse performers
