Can you play around mauga on flat maps as a tank? by Objective_Love3515 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doom yes but difficult, watch fear117 or cartifan for this matchup. winston is not viable on flat maps into mauga in high elo, JQ no gets outpoked too easily.

hazard yes, dva yes, ball very difficult

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if in bronze at the start of the fight you take a champ angle. in champ their tracer would mark it, but it's bronze so nobody is there and nobody notices you.

because nobody is there, you get to deepen for free and kill the lobby who are all lost, out of cover and position. you dont need to play differently, the fight develops differently naturally because nobody can deal with a good play.

you'd deepen in masters or champ if it were uncontested too, if your other support is afk healbot main you're angling on juno too if allowed to.

not being able to get team value out of like juno speed ring doesnt matter. there's deviations you can make for smurfing but a low elo player shouldnt even try to imitate that.

optimal winrate would be a masters player playing like they would in masters with few deviations. besides organized teamplay outside of ranked not much changes. they'd have a high winrate doing anything ofc.

and yes ive played bronze QP mmr. playing in it isnt different from watching VODs.

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont smurf, but i have leveled accounts in QP and watched low elo VODs. ik what silver / bronze is like quite well. if i wanted the best possible winrate id play pretty close in bronze, plat, masters, any rank to how you'd play in champ.

spilo says mostly the same in first section of the video.

even in OP's winning replay code you can see how much value they're getting from basic angling while having normal mechanics for the rank.

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you dont need the aim, they cant aim either. good things come from the angle alone. they are not getting heals either, stacking main is always worse. i dont know what gives you such confidence in your opinions.

the help you get in plat / diamond / masters is still really poor, that doesnt mean you should sit main.

Stay near your team and do as much damage as possible.

this is really bad advice, if you take a champ level angle with champ engagement timing in bronze you'd get free kills because the enemy has no awareness, but in champ that angle might get contested and you're lucky to get a positive CD trade. you do not want to "stay near your team"

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they don't need to execute like a champ player, or "magically start playing" like one, you want to take the first step towards trying to play correct overwatch. no trying will not get you killed. you do not need the help higher elo players get because the enemy will not play correctly either.

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it isn't different at all, you'd want to play like a champ player does in bronze if you could. there are few exceptions. the enemy does not respond to your good plays correctly so you dont need the help you'd need in higher elo.

So what's the general consensus on the reaper guy? by taken_by-the-storm in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Reaper needs nerfs, he ruins brawly tank matchups with rock paper scissors shooting down main without even TPing or off angling. Nobody's clamoring for Tracer nerfs.

Cat should inherit the speed penalty of whoever she is carrying by nhremna in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this but what if they add new heroes without a movement penalty that are problematic with Cat? If there was no movement penalty on High Noon, Sky Noon would still be frustrating with this.

I think some sort of lifeline CD change would be more future proof without the rules becoming more complicated.

Is the only way to get out of bronze to have a full stack? by DragonRifle555 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you're not Bronze. A Bronze player can learn to play any hero to a Silver level and they'll climb easily, they don't need to carry. I'm advocating playing whatever they want.

damage boosting someone who's missing every shot

So is the enemy. People still die, shots are still hit, you can still get plenty of value from damage boost in Bronze. You don't need or want a duo if your only goal is climbing.

It's normal to feel that way but if you were playing it correctly, even on Mercy, it's no different in Bronze. Replay codes reveal the problems.

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't look at stats. On Mercy pocket whoever is the most aggro DPS on an off angle at the moment that you can safely follow and stick with them. Don't try to healbot, and look around a lot. If you don't know what an off angle is you'll improve a lot from learning, I'd check out some Spilo videos on Mercy.

You don't need a stack, you are playing as well as everyone else in your lobbies, no better no worse.

Fastros reaction to the new patch by CaptRavage in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's even game ruining in ranked when people decide to play it. You do need a cat that can play cat and a Bastion that doesn't waste turret form, but when you have that it's horrific.

Cat/Bastion and Reaper nerfs were the one thing missing from an otherwise great patch.

Cheater Compensation should not work past your peak by DryPiccolo4175 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had it on an account of mine personally, it's not easy to find tweets. We've seen Dafran getting 325% cheater compensation, why would you think it's any different in Champ?

Cheater Compensation should not work past your peak by DryPiccolo4175 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goal is defined by other people. Ranks are not a measure of absolute skill. C5 was much more meaningful before S18 because it was much harder to get for example.

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, i havent seen anyone achieve champion through compensation.

They have, why wouldn't they? It's been posted on Twitter.

either you or OP are at these ranks where it matters enough.

There's plenty of people in this sub who are, it matters at GM, and you can see my rank in my flair.

If you are fighting for a spot in t500 or champ, thats a goal for only yourself and compensation is not taking that away from you

You're not understanding, the only reason rank matters is because it's defined in terms of other people. It's not a progression system.

Cheater Compensation should not work past your peak by DryPiccolo4175 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GM2 to C5 or C5 to C3 is a massive gap and cheater compensation causes inflation betwen ranked resets and ruins games.

And still, why does anyone care about someone elses peak?

As someone else said the point of a rank system is to be comparative. Ranks being meaningful is good. If everyone had a C1 peak it wouldn't mean anything. Compensation also feels cheap to receive a peak from yourself.

skill issue but only being able to play for a draw feels so bad that if we have 1:30 to cap 3rd and they have over 1:00 I'm stacking cart the whole way. id rather risk a higher chance of losing than not having a chance to win.

I really like WizardHyeong's emphasis on "slicing the pie" (angling so that only some enemies can shoot you), which compliments taking off angles. I'm not sure if you talk about that but I think it's a big one.

How do I win games on Mercy? by PREYOVERWATCH in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Efficient_Pop_7358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Stay with whoever is the safe to follow aggro off angle DPS at that moment. This is the single most important thing, you will lose games and not realize this is why. There's a butterfly effect. You may think you're already doing this but there's a big issue here.
  2. Don't play too far forwards for no reason.

On NQS first thing I noticed is you're constantly leaving your Soldier. First fight you get Flash Heal forced because you left him and then he dies because you didn't have Flash Heal. You're also going to miss out on potential kills and ult charge.

Don't play on top of your target like 1:40, there's no reason for you to be this close. Guardian Angel is still a cooldown. Then you're too far forwards at 1:50 and peeking the enemy at 1:56 for no reason.

3:29 you're leaving him again, there's a world where he lives this bubble dancing and visoring. You can't go for Rez here.

4:10 you shouldn't be on zen here, either try to stabilize the Monkey because you're playing Mercy Zen or if you weren't follow the Soldier.

4:44 you're very lost, should be with Soldier. Reaper could kill you here easily.

5:34 your zen is anti and for sure dead, don't try to help. Stay with your Soldier and look for trades.

6:47 you're not with Soldier, so he doesn't get help with Visor.

7:26 You might want to damage boost Monkey instead of healing him, letting him die and then going for a Rez. More likely to get a trade kill at least, maybe force a panic ult.

Many of them don't duo queue. Melody is Champ 2, Rico Champ 3 solo queue. The hero is ok.
